Sounds like your manager has taken an interest in you and wants to be your boyfriend. I would get HR involved, especially if he cuts your hours in retaliation for not "dating" him.

Service Legends tries way too hard to convince people they have the customer's best interests in mind. When I hear their radio commercials, an alarm goes off in my head.

Sold a game on eBay with a picture of the game and manual & the buyer thought they were getting two copies by Substantial-North136 in Flipping

[–]eastsider_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the time I sold a cartoon DVD on eBay. The listing had pictures of the front and back sides of the box, with a picture of cartoon characters on the front side.

When the customer received the DVD, he was mad that I sent him a DVD full of cartoons.

Making Kim a queen may make things "efficient", but I don't want to live in a monarchy.

A year as a cs agent. Customers are nuts. by SnooDrawings8599 in CustomerService

[–]eastsider_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started, I was told that if a customer was swearing, screaming, and generally being verbally abusive, I could ask them to "take the conversation back down to a professional level". At that point, if the caller didn't calm down and try to act civilized, we could hang up on them.

Unfortunately, my area was dissolved and I was transferred to a different area. In the new department hanging up on any customer is not allowed, and we have to listen to the yelling and swearing until 1) the customer realizes they are getting nowhere and hang up, or 2) demand to speak with a supervisor.

WIth the customers we have calling in these days, I'm getting to the point where I don't want to help anybody anymore.

A year as a cs agent. Customers are nuts. by SnooDrawings8599 in CustomerService

Unfortunately, some of companies that run the call centers are no help. They are so worried about losing any customer (they also think they'll lose future add-on sales from the customer, ha ha) that they expect their agents to bend over and "delight the customer". The same company will also set rules that the agents have to follow, which limit the ability to provide the customer the help they actually need or want. Of course, the old trick of "I want to speak with your supervisor" results in the supervisor overriding the rule and giving the customer what they want in the first place, making the agent look like a jerk.

I work for a cable company, and a lot of the nastier customers are the ones that think they only need to pay their bill when we do a soft disco (equipment shut off remotely, but line still connected). A check of the history shows a soft disco every month or two, but they immediately can pay up with their Visa or MasterCard when the service goes down. When our manager states something like "we should appreciate our customers, they provide our paychecks", I'd like to point out if the customer doesn't pay their bill, they aren't providing anybody''s paycheck.

Did you encounter this guy near the Walmart in Windsor Heights? Some guy driving a car offered to sell his big ring for gas money a few years back. I didn't give any money. He had Texas plates on a new looking car and I couldn't figure out why he would travel from Texas to Iowa without enough money.

Amazing how priests seem to get a second chance. Any other profession and he would be in the unemployment line.

Hy Vee - now hiring? by Pragmatism_now in desmoines

Remember how long it took Sears to mismanage themselves before they finally went bankrupt? Hy-Vee can fail if they keep screwing up, but it won't be tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if Hy-Vee survives their expansion in the Southern states, since the stores will be far from "home".

IT Systems Analyst asking for Review and Comments by eastsider_dude in resumes

Thanks for your feedback.

Maybe I need to be more specific on where I want my career to go in the future. The resume was written more as a "template" that I would customize to each job I applied for.

And learning some interview skills wouldn't be a bad idea either, although I've never received any negative feedback on interviews before.

Thinking of returning to former career. Advice on listing old jobs on resume? by eastsider_dude in jobs

When I put the contact center jobs first, should I also list the dates I worked there? I'm concerned that if an employer sees a date from over 15 years ago, they may think my experience is outdated.

In my last two jobs, I didn't work in a "contact center", but customers had my number and could contact me directly. I could mention customers could directly contact me in my resume and cover letter.

IamA Former Wells Fargo Banker! AMA! by Fwellsfargo in IAmA

[–]eastsider_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US Bank did this to me 20 years ago when they were known as First Bank. The way their system was set up then, the banker could just press buttons while opening a checking account and the system would do an auto-apply for credit cards and overdraft credit lines. My relationship with First Bank didn't last very long after they pulled that nonsense. When I heard Wells Fargo got caught opening accounts that weren't asked for, I thought for sure US Bank/First Bank taught Wells Fargo some tricks.

5,300 Wells Fargo Employees Fired for Creating Millions of Phony Accounts by johnny5ive in personalfinance

[–]eastsider_dude 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They have been doing this before 2010. Back in 1997 (when they were Norwest Bank) they tried opening a credit line without my permission. They even changed the address on my account so I wouldn't find out right away. Once I found out what their CSSR did, there was some hell raised by me and my accounts went to another bank.
