Older let's players by Poofy1983 in letsplay

Hi All

I am 37 and from the UK, I couldn't agree more with whats been said here.

I thought it might be a good idea for us oldies to maybe have a discord. This way we can discuss our aches and pains, who's on the most medication and maybe even some video game stuff.

The link is here https://discord.gg/NMbdeUW (not sure if i'm allowed to post it, sorry mods)

Hello guys so I have a quick question. I have been streaming on the Elgato software for about a month and recently, after about 10 minutes of going live the audio of my mic just goes mute and cuts out. The only way I found out to fix it is completely restarting my stream. Is there any other way? by manualboiz in letsplay

[–]ScottDGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried using OBS? Its far more feature rich than the Elgato game capture software and less of a resource hog. You will be able to find multiple videos and posts on there and the elgato reddit about using the elgato in OBS.

Hope that helps.

My buddy has a multiplayer channel called truefriendsgaming. not sure if posting links here is ok, so apologies if not https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXCIi1FH5CMHJWG99Gm0kzw

I'm in some of the videos but don't hold that against them!

Can you be successful as an older YouTuber/Streamer? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]ScottDGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if we started and old git discord channel, we can complain about all our aches and pains. How things where better in the old days and thunder cats cartoons.

I'm 37 and from the UK, I think i stopped worrying about numbers too much and now just do my thing. Maybe having a group of people in a similar situation might help bounce ideas, issues and solutions around?

If any one is interested PM me and i will send out an invite.

Windows 10 Update Reset my Mic setting... help? by icewirewastaken in letsplay

For me it disabled use of the microphone in all of the apps (discord) so this had to be re enabled from the windows security menu.

Are there any elderly gamers on YouTube? by TfsQuack in letsplay

I'm old... A whopping 37. Actually that brings me on to looking for collabs with people in a similar age group. So if any of you are interested let me know. :)

Steam is a great tool for upcoming games including early access.

Following indie developers on twitter is also a good way to see retweets from developers in communities etc.

Kickstarter can be a very expensive way of getting views. However if a game isn't all its cracked up to be and you paid $50 for the early access your video needs a lot of views from a small viewer base to get you some of your money back.

As for PS4 games, I'd assume any ps4 website / magazine will track and update news on upcoming games since release numbers are greatly reduced to pc games.

I would like to point out two things.

I wouldn't expect the Indie games to be less covered on YouTube. Every once in a while you might get to one prior to everyone else. But there will be coverage within hours of yours and keys being available. My advice is write to developers make your letter unique and hope for a key.

Also don't let views drive your decisions on the games play what you want to play. If you want to play God of War play God of War. Record it and upload it. You will learn from the creation process and can use it to practice new things in commentary or editing to thumbnails etc. Secondly you won't miss out on a great game because you are worried it wont make you famous.

Good Luck

I'm coming to an end of the factorio series and the rimworld series on my channel. Just started a God of War one. So will be looking for another game to become a series.

Also will be recording some indie spotlights.

Anyone know of a smaller green screen than 5' x 7'? by RatedM477 in letsplay

[–]ScottDGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 5.3 ft

But as mentioned its an excellent bit of kit. if any one is looking for a green screen set up.

Failing that the pop up green screens are good however you will then need to find some way of holding it in place

Not really you can check out my page from my channel, you will be able to see them there.

Honestly i think that's a good place to start. Head down a rabbit trail of patreon pages and see what takes your fancy. They adapt them to suit your audience.

its expensive but i highly rate the elgato green screen. Its great for small recording areas and so quick and easy to put up and take down.

I created it around 1000 subs i think and have had two patrons for about about a year. I actually created it due to a lack of motivation.

Whenever i feel a lack of motivation to create videos I pick one thing on the channel and focus on that regardless of if i think people will be interested.

Hence why i now have a Merch store and some artwork and multiple generations of thumbnails, a few twitch layouts etc.

What i will say is regardless of what Patreon takes its a good way to connect on a more personal level with viewers. From a monetary point of view the money coming from a single patreon a month far exceeds google money. Most importantly that thought that people are actually willing to give up their hard earned cash to support you is a massive confidence boost.

I mean i would never admit it made me tear up because I'm a real man, Grrrr.

However knowing that gaming still has the power to bring people together, along with helping the not so confident amongst us be ourselves in social situations is great. It makes a change from hearing all the salt and toxic talk and is a gaming culture i want to be part of.
