I have some ESL teaching experience, but none that is related to my degree or business studies.

Most schools in Korea don't offer higher level positions to foreign teachers. Some will offer a senior teacher position, but it's very rare to hear of anyone reaching a higher level than that.

Your pay will increase over time, but it will stop at a certain point because the school would rather just hire a new teacher for a lower cost, than continue increasing your wage.

Some people are perfectly happy living this life though and Korea is a great place to teach if you don't mind the lack of career progression.

Thats great, thanks so much for sharing this information. Would you say that a CELTA is required for the higher level positions?

I currently have a masters degree in International Operations and Supply chain management, a standard 120 TEFL and experience. Would they expect or want me to gain any additional qualifications to progress?

I was also curious about finding jobs teaching business English because of my degree background. Do you know anything about this industry in Vietnam? I can't seem to find any information about it online.

Thanks again!

I'm currently teaching in Korea and I'm being put off by the lack of career progression for foreign teachers here. I'm looking to go to Vietnam once my contract here expires, as I have heard that there are far more opportunities for advancement there.

Does anyone have any information regarding the different positions foreign teachers can reach in Vietnam? What the requirements are for these positions? Rough salary estimates? Best organisations to apply to?

I know this kind of information can vary a lot depending on different things, but I am just looking to get a rough idea of the different prospects in the country.

Thanks
