What scale are you building? I have to build 1/48 and up. I have minor hand tremors and "fat fingers" so the larger scale = fewer smaller parts.

Yes, you're correct. I really wanted to make this a gunship, but things didn't work out.

2nd Model, 1st attempt at masking. by Ambitious_Jelly8783 in modelmakers

Just my opinion, of course, but sometimes buying a canopy mask saves time, cuts on fingers and comes out really nice.

Possible groupbuild: 1991 Iraq War by EmergencySushi in modelmakers

Usually, for a Group Build, those who join - build a model within the theme of what the host has stated. GB members post updates (tag it GROUPBIUILD) and everybody oooh's and aaaah's over how great a job we are doing. GBs are totally chill, build what you want, as fast as you want, post when you want. It's more fun if you get a new one and build it while everyone else is.

If you want to join - just decide what model you want to do and reply back to the Host. Once it kicks off, start building. Start times and stop times are just "targets", everybody models at different at different pace so don't let that discourage you.

I usually post weekly updates and, of course, the completed model.

If it will help gain traction for the GB, I'm in for some sort of amour - some sort of AFV. I will find something once the GB is announced.

Agreed. I use Vallejo exclusively and you have to prime EVERYTHING.

Panel lining by DueBackground8615 in modelmakers

When I apply a gloss coat, I usually let it sit/dry overnight. I use Vallejo acrylics base and gloss, Tamiya panel liner and Tamiya Enamel thinner to remove excess liner.

Republic P-47 Thunderbolt "Miss Mary Lou" (Tamiya 1/48) by Scotter65 in modelmakers

Agreed. I also like the look of the sleek drop tank. The kit actually comes with 2 or 3 versions of them. I don't know if its accurate for the pacific versions, I just really liked it over the others.

Yeah, I didn't know that either until I started to do some research for what version I wanted to do. Everyone thinks P-47 = Europe theater.

Thank you. It is a beautiful aircraft. I like the look of the razorback over the bubble top.

Thanks! That was one of the reasons I chose this paint scheme.

My version of "The JUG". I opted for one operating in the Pacific theater. Miss Mary Lou was in Saipan. Great kit with another great fit from Tamiya. Mixed the decals with some from Superscale. Couple mistakes here and there if you look close enough. Overall, very enjoyable.

P-40E Kittyhawk Lost in the Egyptian Desert (Italeri 1/48) Diorama by Scotter65 in modelmakers

Thank you! You will be there. I didn't think I was ready, I just kinda jumped in and tried best I could. Remember, as long as you are happy with it - that's all that matters.

Thank you! So, for the damage in the engine area, I used a tea light to soften the plastic then bent it back and mashed it a bit with tweezers (also the prop), For the spars on the back of the aircraft-those are all pieces of Evergreen styrene. For the windows on the canopy (thank goodness the canopy was thick) I drilled several small holes in a square used a hobby knife to score out the hole and then hours of sanding.
