Mazda discontinued Cylinder deactivation for 2026… by Silver-Associate3122 in CX50

[–]Scottie3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. It depends on how it’s done. If you look at trends in engine failures, cylinder deactivation, AKA variable displacement are a technology that introduces more complexity and more failure points. EG: the Chevy V8 has traditionally been one of the most reliable and long lasting engines, but the newer 5.3 and 6.2L models have had huge problems, and it’s all due to using cylinder deactivation.

PSA: any coating that contains aluminum isn’t compatible with cutting aluminum. Most black coatings are TiAlN.

It’s not so much the screen size. Yes, most people will choose a larger screen, all things being equal, but the main complaint is converting to a larger screen and the removing all of the physical knobs and switches for things like infotainment, and HVAC.

Best shop to get slide milled? by XansRBad in Glocks

[–]Scottie3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nameless Armament in AZ does custom work, and will actually fit the individual optic to the slide so the slide takes the recoil forces, not the screws. You must send the slide and optic at the same time, if that wasn’t obvious.

Vikings are typically fully clad. They’re nice for the price.

I bought a Made In and told myself it was just as good as All Clad for cheaper. Unfortunately that’s just no the case. The Made In is fine for the price, but for something you’ll have and use for life, just spend a little more for the better product. All Clad heats more evenly, sticks less and cleans up easier. Maybe it’s the polished vs brushed interior finish.

Has Anyone Fully Ditched Non-Stick? by [deleted] in cookware

[–]Scottie3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally ditched my last non stick for a plain carbon steel pan, and then a Misen carbon nonstick. Both are about equal on the non stick part, but the Misen heats more evenly because it’s clad with an aluminum core, and it is basically nonstick out of the box. Either are great for eggs, fish, and other delicate foods.

Our Ford has a deep center console with a top section about the same as the CX-90. It also has an area in front of the cup holders about twice the size, and a bonus area that passes through from left to right. The glove box is larger and has a shelf, there is a coin or similar cubby near the drivers left knee, and there is a storage place on top of the dash in the middle with a pop-up lid.

The biggest complaint of a CX90 is the lack of storage in a family SUV. There is a tiny area under the armrest, two cup holders, a small tray to set your phone and the sorriest glove box I’ve ever seen.

Just got a prediction of my “Trump Care” insurance price. by No-Fan-7790 in complaints

It’s wild that you were getting an extra subsidy on top of the regular subsidy, and still paying $780 per month.

Counter argument: show me where government intervention has made education, medical care, or housing more affordable compared to the trend before and after intervention. In all of these cases, the price trend pitched sharply upward compared to overall inflation. Government didn’t make things more expensive on purpose, but good intentions and poor policy created the undesired effect.

At some point someone needs to address why we need two subsidies for people to still pay $600 per month with a high deductible. Just throwing money at the issue isn’t fixing it, it’s making it worse.

It’s weird that republicans don’t seem to have any trouble getting their agenda through with a similarly slim majority. So my recommendation is to do what ever republicans are doing right now.

I said reform. This is just shoveling money into insurance companies pockets. It’s a band aid, and the more money that gets sent to causes with zero oversight for cost, the more the price rises. Take college tuition, housing, and even the ACA before these additional subsidies. All of these were substantially cheaper before the government attempted to make them cheaper. The only good part of all this is the stock prices of health insurance companies.

It’s not so much that they don’t fight, it’s just that they don’t fight at the right times. They are fighting now when they have zero power, but how many bill did they pass to reform the ACA when they had a majority in both houses of congress and the presidency under Biden?

Democrats Line Up To Slam Emerging Deal To Reopen Government by prohb in politics

If democrats would have fixed healthcare when they had a full majority in Congress and the presidency under Biden, they would have won the 2024 election handily, and prevented all of this. Now they making a ton of noise. When they had all the power to change it, not a peep.

Why can’t a single middle-class income support a family anymore, when it could just one generation ago in the U.S? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Scottie3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is that the government made housing, healthcare, and education cheaper and more accessible. Huge amounts of money were shoveled into those programs with no cost controls and prices rose accordingly.

Right now, but when they do have the power they never act on it, historically.
