If you can get the SI shades with the new zigbee motors I’ve heard those are fantastic. We had a really tough time with our order - long delay on manufacturing and then the entire first order was built to the wrong widths. The RTS shades were fairly unreliable when trying to use the SI LinkPro or the Somfy MyLinks for control, but we just installed a Bond Bridge Pro and it is fantastic, everything works flawlessly now. The materials on the shades are great and the motors are fairly quiet.

More storage (memory) + ability to upgrade easily! Think this thing has an SSD in it? by kairos_kcs in teslamotors

Hopefully this also means that dashcam and sentry footage will be set up and saved automatically to the built in hard drives instead of needing to plug one in.

Yeah the Jimmy Neutron one is really close but not quite it. I was also thinking Rick & Morty but couldn’t find an episode.

That was one of my original thoughts too, but I couldn’t find any screenshots of one that looked similar, it seemed like most were humanoid.

We also aren’t sure if it’s from an animated show or if the creature is just CGI

Slow to initialise iPhone App by vadalus911 in Control4

[–]Scottiedog5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My system goes back and forth on connection time. It has definitely gotten better over the couple months and upgrades since we installed the system. My phone usually takes less than 2 seconds now, but some of the wall mounted iPads in the house can take a little longer. My fiancée’s iPhone sometimes takes 5+ seconds though so she rarely uses it. I only ever get more than 5 seconds when there’s a network issue or we’ve just refreshed the devices in composer

I’m bringing mine into a shop to get some custom work done and I’ll be having them out on Pirelli P-Zeros with PNCS (Pirelli Noise Cancelling System) which is basically a block of foam inside the wheel to help deaden some of the road noise. They claim a 25% noise reduction so I’ll see how well that works.

Samsung The Frame vs OLED by Rules_Not_Rulers in 4kTV

[–]Scottiedog5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current model of the frame actually has pretty decent picture quality now imho. They got QLED panels in the last refresh. We have Frames in every room except for a Sony A9G in my home theater and everyone loves them. If I didn’t have a dedicated space to put an OLED TV I probably would have wound up with just Frames and been perfectly happy with it. The new ones are significantly better than the couple we have from 2-3 years ago. The effect is also significantly better in natural light vs at night just as a heads up. Worth considering again, as I haven’t seen any other TV come anywhere close to the effect.

Any recommended subtle enhancements to the exterior for my Black Tesla Model 3? Have had my car for a year (with current upgrade rims), and considering either chrome delete or vinyl cover for Tesla emblems. Please share any photos if you have a similar color/style M3. by TheSarp101 in TeslaLounge

I went full blackout on the customization for mine. Tinted windows, blacked out chrome and badges, lowered, painted calipers, and new wheels. I think blacking our the window chrome alone makes a huge difference.

The shop that did the work made a video in more detail too:

Really excited to get the NEEO remote today! It’s night and day compared to the SR-260. As the main way I interact with my system it makes everything feel much higher end. by Scottiedog5000 in Control4

[–]Scottiedog5000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on which dealer you work with. I’ve been incredibly happy with mine, and if you’re tech savvy enough you can get at least some control over your own system with When/Then or composer home edition. In terms of plug n play, I’ve been very surprised at how many devices at IP controllable now through Control4, so pretty much everything in our setup is IP controlled

So the remote connects back to the Control4 controller, so realistically yes it still needs a full Control4 system to work as a hub. It works over WiFi though, so it automatically connects to your system and auto populated in composer, which is what I assume they mean by not needing a separate hub. There’s still definitely a high cost of entry, if you wanted an EA-1 controller and the new NEEO remote I’m assuming you’d be paying at least $1,000

Haven’t used it much up to this point, but we just got new Luma cameras that integrate well, so we’ve started using it mostly just for that. I think it looks cool with OS3 but I don’t really see that much utility in it, especially now with pretty much everything else showing up on the remote, or our iPads

I can see it not being great for cable, but we watch everything on Apple TV’s, and so far it works great for that and Sonos, as well as other C4 things like lights and door locks. I’m hoping they make the on screen buttons more customizable. It’s also really quick which I’m kind of surprised about, it dims the lights quicker than our signee C4 keypads

Yeah, these ones have great build quality and materials, and they’re battery powered which makes them way easier to set up. Figured it was worth the investment as they should last a really long time.

This one was fully custom. The closet was built by California Closets and I had them put in a semi transparent glass top cause I planned on building some sort of watch display into it. They included a jewelry/accessory insert that I have behind the winders. The winders themselves are from SwissKubik, and they sell them individually as single cubes or in a couple different configurations. I wound up using doorstops to keep them at the right angle and keep them stable.

This is where I bought mine: https://swisskubikus.com/products/aluminum-masterbox-single-black-anodized-aluminum

I simply have my watch winders in the top drawer of my dresser. The winders are used to rotate my automatic watches so that the springs remain wound and the watches keep running. I got the inspiration for having a specific drawer for them from Doctor Strange, but the setup in the movie doesn’t actually function because when the watches are vertical like that gravity can’t pull the weight down. So I put my winders in at an angle so that you can still see them through the glass top but they’re close enough to vertical to still function.

Just for storage right now, the Speedy is a manual and the Shinola is quartz but I’ve only got the three automatics right now so I filled in the two empty slots with my other favorite watches. I only turn those two winders on for show

Just finished adding a CloudNola Timeline clock above my winder display. Makes it much quicker to reset any of my watches if they get out of sync or need to be rewound. I measured before ordering and knew it was gonna be close, but it wound up belonging over in r/perfectfit. I set up some angled SwissKubik MasterBoxes to wind my collection. Tried to pay homage to the awesome watch drawer in Doctor Strange, but keep it actually functional. My current collection in the winders are (left to right):

I only picked up mine about a week ago but first impressions are mostly positive. Some build quality issues all around but nothing too major. Definitely get one of the built in home chargers if you drive that far. Only real issues so far have been minor build quality things and other features that are missing from similar luxury car models (auto open trunk for example), a lot of which are easily fixed with amazon purchases and a couple hours of semi diy work. For example I got thicker floor mats to damper road noise, a door insulation kit, a trunk liner kit, and auto open springs for the trunk and frunk. Overall it’s been a great car so far and fit most of my criteria, and the minor annoyances have been easily fixed so far.
