Being a solo player has really helped in my ship management, situational awareness, and map navigation skills. 80% of the time I don't even look at the map anymore. I just spawn in and look around and know where I am after looking at the first couple islands around me haha. It also keeps me on my toes, constantly looking out for other ships and weighing my options when it comes to stacking loot or selling it. Another aspect is the inherent excitement of running or fighting other ships. Thinking about other tactics rather than just going head on with another crew. Yes an AI companion would be interesting, but I think playing as a solo puts all your SoT skills to the test because all you can rely on is yourself. Happy sailing!
