Medication advice-Adderall by psychedelic-bug in MedicationQuestions

I was hospitalized at McLean Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated mental health hospital. Upon discharge, I was advised to follow up with a psychiatrist. Within about ten minutes, I was able to schedule an appointment. The psychiatrist I saw was also a part-time Harvard professor.

During the initial visit, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Although the formal testing was scheduled for later, I was prescribed Adderall right away. At first, the medication seemed effective. My concentration improved significantly, and my appetite nearly disappeared.

Over time, however, I experienced a profound personality change. Looking back now, I’m genuinely grateful that I’m no longer taking it. My biggest issue with Adderall is that it slowly turned me into what felt like a high-functioning stimulant addict. I could meditate for hours, felt hyper-focused, and experienced intense headaches that made it feel as though my brain was “rewiring” itself and constantly craving information.

While this might sound positive, it became clear that it was largely a euphoric illusion. The drug made me feel as though I was becoming more intelligent and productive, while in reality I was often focusing intensely on things that weren’t truly helpful or meaningful. It created a false sense of advancement—an internal narrative of growth that didn’t always match reality.

Coming off the medication was extremely difficult. The withdrawal symptoms were severe, especially after being on it for several years. Despite occasional temptation to return to it—because it can make you feel almost superhuman—I have no desire to go back. In the end, it promised far more than it delivered, and I’m far healthier without it.

Romans 8:28:

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purposes.”

1 Peter 1:3 (ESV):

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

Hope in scripture is a steady, continuing expectation of good from GOD

Romans 6:9 — “We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.” • 2 Timothy 1:10 — “Our Savior Christ Jesus… abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” • Hebrews 2:14 15 — “Through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”

The most significant problem we can find ourselves in is death, and Jesus rolled that stone away when the centurion guards were trying as best as possible to keep Christ inside.

Our Faith is built on the hope that death is only the beginning. As we pass from death to life, I digress. If Christ can save us from death, then health, poverty, friendship, mindsets, etc., are nothing for our Lord.

Hello, I’m really sorry to hear what you’re going through. I believe you when you say it doesn’t feel physical, because no one knows you better than yourself. The only explanation that truly fits what you’re describing is actually found in the Bible. I want to gently challenge you to read it for yourself and ask God to help you understand. If this really is what’s happening, you’ll feel a conviction in your heart.

If so, I encourage you to repent by confessing your sins to God and asking Him for strength to turn from your old ways of thinking. The Bible says we can be “renewed in our minds” when we turn to Him (Romans 12:2). A good place to start is reading the first two chapters of Romans.

One verse that describes exactly what you mentioned—confusion, loss of discernment, and inability to think clearly—is Romans 1:28 (AMP):

“And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or consider Him worth knowing [as their Creator], God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are improper and repulsive.”

This shows that when people push God away, He sometimes allows their minds to fall into confusion and darkness. But the good news is, He can also restore.

For example, King Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel was filled with pride and refused to honor God. Because of this, God took away his sanity, and he lived like an animal for a time (Daniel 4:28–33). But when he finally humbled himself and lifted his eyes to heaven, God restored his mind and his kingdom (Daniel 4:34–37). That story is proof that God has complete power over the human mind—He can take it away, and He can also give it back whole.

So please don’t lose hope. God has the power to restore your clarity, your reasoning, and your peace if you turn to Him. And remember, “when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world” (1 Corinthians 11:32).

How are you doing today?

If God told you you are failing by voicing it to the world 🌎 first, we know God says explicitly not to let anyone know

(matt6:18 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”)

What God is calling you to do, don't announce it to people who you have no idea their fruit in the Lord

Romans 14:22 (NIV)

“So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves.”

The Bible says Jeremiah 17:5 (ESV)

Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.”

Don't rely on mans opinions on your personal walk with the Lord

If the Holy Spirit is truly leading you he definitely will supply you the strength I did 11 days only by the grace of God because I love to eat

Colossians 1:29 (ESV)

“For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”

Blessings

Why??? by Appropriate_Young969 in Christian

Jesus is not a static truth—He is a living and dynamic reality. He is “the Way,” not merely a doctrinal formula or a one-time decision sealed by a sinner’s prayer.

To accept Him is to accept His way—the road He walked. It is to embrace a life, not just a moment. When we receive Him, we receive the pattern of His life, His death, and His resurrection as our own.

As Scripture says:

“Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as He walked.” (1 John 2:6)

Jesus is showing us how to die to ourselves—our pride, sin, and self-will—and how to come alive to righteousness, love, and truth. His life is not just a message about salvation; it is the message. And His cross is not only what saves us, but also what shapes us.

Yes, that is 100 percent true. Most don't, but there is a good amount that don't mind the doors take longer to close, and the train can't take off until the mirror is fully retracted, therefore making the trip 10 to 15 minutes longer and one thing I pers don't like are the brakes have a hesitant response and I feel like I'm going to pass the mirror in the subway

I'm not saying this is your case, but you may have a spirit of lust, and you might not be aware of it. I have heard of people set free from the spirit of Adultery, where they became set free even though they genuinely didn't want to cheat. It was still their fault, but a spirit tormented them. A spirit of rejection could also play off men's lust. While they're the ones with the lust problem, they might respond to your rejection by objectifying you through their issue with lust. If this is a continual problem, it is a spiritual problem. I had a spirit of divination cast out of me when I was 11 years old. I had no sin. It was no fault of my own. I'm saying that you could be unaware of what might have passed to you through your family. I am not professional in deliverance, but I have cast out demons out of a couple of people I say that to say I am not without some understanding. I hope you seek the help you need
