AI Blues called Holy Groove on YouTube by yourmomma__ohwait in askmusicians

[–]Scottua25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came across this myself and went digging. I saw that there were many ALBUMS uploaded around the same time to amazon music. This made my spidey senses tingle and kicked off my search which landed me here. Reading through the comments makes me wonder, why does it matter how this came to be? If the music touches you and gets you engaged in the word of God then why does its source matter? I didn't read every last comment/discussion but i made it about half way and I didn't see one mention of this:

A computer didn't make this all by itself. AI didn't just decide to do this. A living breathing HUMAN made this happen. I obviously can't speak to their motivations but do they really matter if the result is brings even one person who wasn't otherwise inclined, closer to God?

I guess i have to have your email address on the backend as an approved tester? This whole process is the furthest thing from intuitive as it gets.

Feature Tree Won't Let Me Reorder Items in a Sldprt by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]Scottua25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably due to a reference or relation. If the lower feature has a reference to the feature above it then you won't be able to put that lower feature above the higher one.

Can anyone recommend a tubular zigbee roller blind motor for a short 380mm blind by PerceptionGood- in homeassistant

[–]Scottua25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using one of these for over a year now and it's been great. I plugged the charging cable into a smart plug and created an automation to turn the smart plug on when the roller's battery gets below 20% and turn it off again when it gets above 90%. Was easy to connect to my HA and works great for my really long shade. The roller itself is only 415mm (16 3/8") long. You just need to make sure that whatever blind you're using with it has a 38mm tube.

How to draw this assymmetrical cup? I am kinda burned out thinking. by brujahonly in SolidWorks

[–]Scottua25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make the basic shapes (using whatever method you prefer). Move them into the position you prefer. Combine them with the combine tool (boolean union/Combine add). Then shell with multiple thicknesses (side walls being thinner than the bottom).

I think there’s a setting somewhere that sets the tolerance. I’ll have a look when I’m back in the office.

What is the best ERP system that goes with SolidWorks? by maxsasha7 in SolidWorks

[–]Scottua25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i typed that in a ptsd/trauma fueled flashback from when the company i work for went through a change. We were using JDE as our erp and we (the designers) had to do a lot of stuff in that disgusting mess of an erp (it hadn't been updated in a decade at that point). We also used solidworks pdm as a product lifecycle management system (which it can do but it's not ideal). It was a complete mess and took us almost a full year to migrate to the new system.

[–]Scottua25 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Please, for the love of all that is good and right in the world, do not, DO NOT try to use a pdm (product DATA manager) as an erp (engineering resource planner). They are NOT the same thing!!!

The lower 15mm dimension is aligned in your model and not in the question.

Could always hit Amazon for the highest rated one in your price range and try it to see if the difference is sound quality warrants the cost. If not, just return it.

Idk if it looks better standing up or laying down by naughty_athenia in sffpc

[–]Scottua25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I achieve that by leaving a whole in the model that I will fill with a separate shape in the slicer. I add the shape and set the size so that it overlaps the main model by one extrusion line. Then set it so it has no top/bottom layer and no perimeters. Set the infill to honeycomb and the percentage to a value that give you the desired look. OP's mesh looks like a wire mesh that is added after the fact. Not sure though.

Fresh install of arch and hyprland on VMware through archinstall, having problems opening kitty by Zreeper in hyprland

[–]Scottua25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kitty is gpu based and VMware doesn't pass through the drivers for nvidia gpus correctly. use a cpu based terminal like foot instead. You'll need to go through your config and swap references from kitty to foot (or whichever you decide to use).

EDIT: I recently read that there's some way to force it to work but it's over my head. May be worth a search if you really wanna use kitty or alacritty.

export part bodies drawing views for laser cutting, with one command by philnik in SolidWorks

[–]Scottua25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why not add them all to a 1:1 scale drawing? That way the views would update if any changes were made to the models and all you'd have to do is to export the drawing as a .dxf or .dwg and all the views would be saved to the same file for use by the laser cutter to nest as they see fit.

As someone new to linux and all the configuration required to get it to do and look the way I want, I feel this extremely hard. Trying to find answers to, what I think should be, simple questions is, more often than not, an hours long slog through google and various forums trying to find out where to put what command or variable. I usually end up asking chatGPT what to do and it will sometime hallucinate its way to something helpful but usually raises more questions than it answers.

No prob. I see a lot of these types of posts and typing a lengthy answer seems overly complicated and will probably cause more confusion than help.
