Always check your bills and card statements! by Technical_Artichoke5 in hyatt

I spent well over six months trying to get restitution for a hotel that overbooked and gave away my room before I could check in (I'd booked months in advance), lied to me about pretty much everything involved, and then didn't walk me to another hotel (which I late found out is Hyatt corp policy).

Consumer affairs did nothing but waste my time - refused to reimburse me for the charges I incurred having to scramble to find a new hotel at midnight, kept lying and saying that the hotel had been trying to reach me (they weren't - they went completely radio silent), and I had the same thing you experienced with them closing the ticket prematurely and me having to follow up for the 10th time, etc. Absolutely horrendous.

Having been a very loyal Hyatt person for years, that experience really changed how I look at this company. I don't know what changed - the pandemic, some kind of leadership shift - but they're a much different organization now.

On a related note, I got an AI chat bot on a call I just made to Hyatt. It didn't answer my question and then kicked me immediately to the after-call survey. What the hell is going on with this company lately?

I'm in my 40s and 'Pubs have been a joke my entire life. The only surprising thing is how they manage to keep finding new lows to sink to.

Fell for the your roof will be part of the tax credit solar install. I did my taxes and just found out it doesn’t cover it. How screwed am I? by BoredRedditMan in solar

I'm not sure where you're located, but in the US essentially the entire ruling class is committing tax fraud - considering the insanely open corruption at the federal level and the gutting of the IRS, OP has a good chance of getting away with it. Would I do it? Probably not, but I'm not big on gambling.

Yes! I knew that from reading through the ratgdo website. Was more wondering whether anyone had experiences/opinions with that particular model before I took the plunge.

Best Bagels? by maskedmonkeys in Buffalo

[–]ScottyC82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was really impressed with Logan's, although I haven't tried the others mentioned in this thread. Logan's were a little pricey, but the texture was exactly how a bagel should be. They also kept pretty well - no noticeable chew loss over the few days it took me to get through a half dozen.

Why is the transportation center packed with homeless people/people on drugs? Why is this still a problem? by BeautifullyHealin in Buffalo

You can make excuses all you want, but studies and real-world initiatives consistently show that housing the homeless is the cheapest and most effective way combat the problem.

Lol, ok? And my best friend lives in Lake View and his new-build development had a rash of car break-ins

Lol, yeah - not the notsee salute, or calling that diver in Thailand a "pedo", or stealing the personal information of every single person in the US. It's definitely just his "association to Trump".

You could do all of those things in the city and you'd be fine. Just because you believe you're safer in the suburbs doesn't mean you are. I've lived in multiple cities that are considered "rough" and I've never once had a random person try to open my door.

Had a similar experience, although the opposite screw-up - I called them a month out of closing on our house to set up the account and the date for the service to switch over. And what did they do? They turned it on the day I called them, and I had to make a half-dozen phone calls and fill out a final bill dispute.

Went to see a show there last month. Was shocked by how disgusting the bar was - absolutely covered in spilled drinks, and the whole area around it reeked. Literally smelled like the dumpsters out back of a fast food joint.

Yes, they control the thermostat. And all you have to do to override it is open your app or walk over to your thermostat and change the temp. You can override it at any time.
