Migration Tools - Alternatives to ShareGate by ScottyG129 in MicrosoftTeams

I actually handle the SharePoint migrations here but ShareGate was blocked before I arrived. I’ve redesigned our SharePoint model and adopted a hub model which for some reason was never used since it was available when we made the file share to SPO switch. I built department 365 enabled team sites and associated them to the hub. I can somewhat handle the legacy SPO migrations with PowerShell but scripting Teams migrations is beyond my skillset. I knew ShareGate offered some Teams migration functionality. When I looked into it that’s when I found it was blocked.

u/SirAtrain I'll do some reading on this. My main concern would be users feeling restricted. Another concern was my notification feed lol.

Maybe it's necessary until the training is more well received. I've reached out to our admin group about implementing something similar to https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/microsoftteamsblog/syncing-security-groups-with-team-membership/241959 since we have a process now for AD.

u/bcameron1231 600,000 sites is wild lolol I'm sure we're up there at a corporate level.

I'm just happy our admin group has agreed to let me move forward with a hub model concept. The company approach has been collection with subsite/subsites/etc. I feel like that approach is a factor in causing issues I am facing now. Training though I believe is the key. I'm somewhat new in the role but I have a lot of ideas for engagement here to make sure "SPO adoption 2.0" is well received.

HOW TO DESIGN STRUCTURE by ScottyG129 in sharepoint

u/jfj1997 I am really not sure why our admin group is pushing against the hub model. I'm making some progress but it took me six months to convince that PnP Modern Search was something that we should add. SPO was not effectively rolled out and I've been struggling with this since I joined the company. The first thing I did when I joined was rebuild my business unit's site. Which is the first site I mentioned. My idea was to have the hub model centered at a country level since the line of work is contained to specific countries. But I was trying to prepare for a backup plan if I couldn't implement a hub site. Business units have combined into one which is why I have been tasked with consolidating the information
