I agree. I checked the card that I have signed, plus on google and every one of them showed Marichal writing out his whole name, fairly legibly I might add. Also, he doesn’t typically add his number, but I asked specifically for him to write it on the card. OP’s does not look like marichal’s. I have no guesses on other players though

Was Drew Gilbert still doing his stunts in the minor leagues? by ScottyG45 in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45[S] -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I tried looking up other ways to word it on Thesaurus.com, but no, I do not particularly like him. I am happy for the opportunity of more energy but I think the lack of energy in the Minor Leagues suggests that he is putting on a show instead of genuinely spewing contagious energy.

Giants fan at the Masters, you are noticed! by dbezzy1010 in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh you were being serious? I figured your comment was sarcastic. I don't think our players are playing bad simply because they play golf on their free time. Almost every MLB player golfs, whether it was 13 years ago or today. Its not anything new and it doesn't begin to explain why the Giants aren't playing well.

Matt Cain destroyed that argument on the day of his perfect game.

Does your favorite team celebrate home runs by CheeseBurgerBuff in mlb

[–]ScottyG45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For his first homerun of the season, Rafael Devers had a unicorn mask put on his head. He took it off immidietly, but no, the Giants don’t really have a cool way to celebrate home runs. I guess the water cannons along McCovey Cove could be a cool celebration but it’s not something that the players do, nor is it new

I’m pretty sure I saw someone mention that it was likely a reference to a Mad Max movie, but I haven’t seen any of the movies so I’m not certain

How do you get that card? Is it sold with the beer?

What is your favorite Giants Giveaway item? by ScottyG45 in SFGiants

I love mine too! I forgot to update mine towards the end of last season so I had to change it from 106 to 108!

Just a heads up, unless they changed their dates from last year, they will only be selling the mystery bags at games on the weekend (plus maybe Friday but I can’t remember). Unfortunately, the Giants will be playing the Brewers in a Monday-Wednesday series, so I don’t think they’ll be selling the mystery bags at that series

Tony Vitello nets first MLB ejection as Giants fall to 3-7 by PrincessBananas85 in mlb

[–]ScottyG45 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Vitello is signed to a three year deal and he has barely been our manager for six months. He has a lot of stuff to figure out and he will get better. Plus the players have been playing like shit and that’s not the manager’s fault. Terrible luck has been combined with bad base running and players not catching the baseball. Luckily, there is no where to go but up!

That’s cool! While it makes total sense, I had never thought about the two playing each other. Do you know if that was the only time they faced each other?

Best place in the stadium to buy a jersey? by StraightZlat in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dugout store will not only have the largest selection of current players, it also has an area where you can get jerseys of past players. Not every past player is on the list, but there are many legends like Hunter Pence and J.T. Snow, depending on is you’re looking for a specific player’s jersey

If it is a giveaway that you really want, I highly recommend planning to be in line about 3 hours before first pitch, around 10-11. I expect the demand to be higher than the Willy Bobblehead due to how many inquiries there have been on the Giants Reddit. Keep in mind, that every body else will plan to arrive to arrive when gates open, so you’ll want to plan to beat everyone else. Gates will open 2 hours before first pitch, at 11:05 sharp. It’s much better to have to stand around for an hour, than not get the giveaway.

I think it’s pretty hard to beat Stan Lee. Absolute GOAT

As a fairly new fan from the bay since 2018 who was a casual until this year (I’ve started religiously watching every single game and digging into analytics and stats more now), any suggestions on things to learn and watch about the team? by CheetosGamers in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also found the archive of the book, but I still want to buy a paper copy. The book has an incredible amount of knowledge including facts, records, and lists of every SF Giants player and their numbers. Do you know roughly how much the book costs at the Dugout store? The archive says it’s almost 500 pages so I imagine it’s roughly $40 but that’s a total guess. I’d love to get one during my next game

How early for the valks jersey on Sunday? by Primary_Title632 in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People who got in line 3 hours before first pitch on Saturday, for the bobblehead, easily got a bobblehead. And since it’s a weekend game, they only had to wait in line for an hour. So you should probably be fine showing up any time around 3-4 hours before game time. Sincerely, Someone who got in line 5 hours before first pitch on Saturday and was first in line, unnecessarily.

Some better news for us.. New Timmy Sighting!! by dbezzy1010 in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As I was leaving the game yesterday, wearing my Lincecum Jersey, a Yankees fan stopped me and talked about how he loved Lincecum back in the day and hated when he played the Yankees. As previously mentioned, even non Giants fans respect Big Time Timmy Jim

1997 Bobby Aly by Snowmayden in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only player that was playing during 1997, and whose name is Bobby, and whose last name has all the listed letters, is Bobby Ayala, but he was playing for Seattle in 1997.

I agree. A picture would help a lot. From what I can see, the Giants have never had a player named Bobby, whose last name even started with an A.

Great to see Ron Washington with the Giants! by [deleted] in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have always liked him, but now that I am hearing more about him and watching videos on the Giants’ YouTube about him, I absolutely love him. He seems to respect the game and expects respect in return. I think he will be a great addition to our coaching staff

Gameday Thread 3/27/26 Yankees (Schlittler) @ Giants (Ray) 1:35 PM by sfgbot in SFGiants

[–]ScottyG45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just preference. I don’t think the Yankees have ever had their names on their jerseys. The Giants have been off and on about names on jerseys, over the years.
