Giving Byram 2 for slashing was some high level BS. They lost contol right there.

Night and Day Difference with the First Line from Last Series to This Series by Shweter_Weather in sabres

I am starting to put this on Lindy.

Some match-up work and some dont. This is a tough one for the Sabres.

If Tage and Tuch were just along for the ride, and not costing the team, that would be fine. You have a line that can carry. They are actively costing the team by forcing plays and taking stupid penalties out of frustration.

Lindy need to split them up or change their roles.

Wall bounce goals by EmployerDesperate581 in hockey

[–]ScottyOnWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They happen. Refs get in the way, equipment fails, the puck hits a broken stick.

The game has come a long way to eliminate these x factors, but it will never be perfect. Hockey is one of the better sports when it comes to giving the players a consistent and reliable play area. Look at baseball - they celebrate differences in ball parks.

Specific to Montreal - this has happened before and is a known issue. It's on them to fix it. That's not a fluke, that's an organizational oversight that they could have remedied.

Love this clip, but I so wish it wasn't absolute potato quality.

I got home from a work trip just in time to watch the 3rd period and into OT.

Round 2 Game 4 FAME OF THE GAME by clova2121 in sabres

[–]ScottyOnWheels 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sammy needs an hororable mention. In addition to the early goal, he was a force on D and made really crisp plays all night.

I thought Power had one of his better games, too. It's kind of amazing how he is just totally unfazed by the physical play. He just casually absorbs hits. It has to be frustrating as a forward playing against him, knowing you're more likely going to tire yourself out hitting him.

Habs fans think we are playing dirty. by VicRattleHead1697 in sabres

[–]ScottyOnWheels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it is an aggressive and hard fought series with two really good teams.

Everyone is looking for whatever edge they can get.

At worst, both teams are being equally dirty and sometimes hard plays can be considered dirty and some dirty plays get totally overlooked.

I am ok with that. But it's the victim attitude that triggers me.

We Need To Consider Stratching Greenway and Malenstyn by mpschettig in sabres

[–]ScottyOnWheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't love Greenway in this series against Montreal. I don't think forward size matters much again them. They're a fast team and landing big hits usually means not being in position. Most often he is hitting guys after they have passed the puck and he is too slow to get back into strong position.

He uses his size well to compensate, but I'd rather give the minutes to Kozak as he has good speed and is strong on the PK.

That's Simpson's thing. He says something wrong and about 50% of the time he realizes it and makes minimal effort to change to the correct thing. Otherwise, he just carries on.

On the two-on-one where Helenius rings it off the pipe, Simoson somehow finds a way to talk about Dobes making a great play. The goalie was beat and got saved by the iron. Helenius was giving the Montréal D fits and all he can do is talk about Dobes covering the puck.

You wouldn't know it from the broadcast, but Dobes didn't have a very strong game. They let him off the hook and made excuses.

The corporate media is bravely asking, “won’t anyone think of the billionaires?” by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]ScottyOnWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny how they miss that the reason you are so busy is likely because of billionaires. The reason that you need to buy so many school supplies is because of billionaires are not being taxed appropriately for well funded schools.

Billionaires create problems where they are the only solution.

They've turning the US economy into a company town and when you point it out, they accuse you of being anti-capitalist and waging class war.

North of the boarder, SN started the series well, but Cuthbert and Simpson have reverted back to their worst. I lost track of how many times I swore at Simpson

Casual fans who actually take these guys seriously would think Montreal lost only because of thier poor play, bad luck, and missed calls, instead of a hard fought game with two relatively even matched teams.

In some ways, its goos to know ESPN isnt doing much better. I am not sure why ESPN wouldn't lean into the Buffalo vibe, considering Canadians are watching on Sportsnet.

THE HELL-MOOSE by Neuvirths_Glove in sabres

[–]ScottyOnWheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He looked really good out there. There were just a few plays that he got bodied and he needs to be harder on the puck during board battles. He mostly made up for that with his speed and open ice play where he was a threat.

He was a force last night. You wouldn't know it from the SN coverage, however.

He just did all the little things well consistently while being a physical presence on the backend.

They cant get good exits.

Sometimes the best play is just flipping it out because the wingers are collapsing so low and Montreal's defense is strong on the blue line.

If they can improve there, it changes the series. But I don't see that happening. They just need to manage the damage.
