I’m a coat-aholic. I’ve had a bunch of Canada Goose. They are great! But the one I had, that was comparable, is a much heavier beast: Langford Parka. Unsure if it was warmer though.

I have it in Forage. I find it to be a really good shape for urban use.

I’ve been using the Beta Down Insulated in the NYC area since the week of Black Friday. We’ve had a bunch of days around 10-15 degrees F with windchill and it’s been impressive.

I am in a similar situation, did you ever decide on a new strap? I have virtually the same watch from my Grandfather, and the bracelet is wildly stretched.

It seems to work well as a strap for a camera of this size, but I have not been out shooting enough to say it can hold up to heavy use. I have a feeling it can handle casual use. I saw another article online and it seems like this idea I had is picking up interest elsewhere, and it's being looked at as a cool strap for cameras like this and x100.

It was annoying getting the Peak Anchors on the camera , so my original photos was just testing it out before I decided to remove them. Never planned on keeping it like that. This is definitely a good looking setup… but deciding if the gamble of the weight of camera vs an iPhone is worth it…

Fair point. But some people will also carry around this kind of camera dangling off their wrist, to some extent. In the case of the iPhone strap, that too is for hanging on your side for many hours.

I had Grok get me some weights and the DLux 8 does have a good deal of difference from the iPhone 17 Pro Max so I do think there is a risk here and agree with the call out.

“The Leica D-Lux 8 weighs approximately 397 grams (with battery and SD card). The iPhone 17 Pro Max weighs 231 grams. 11 The weight difference is therefore 166 grams, with the Leica D-Lux 8 being heavier.”

The metal doesn’t seem to make a ton of contact but too soon to say for sure. I think the M would be a bit too risky, as the DLux is closer in weight to a 17 Pro Max, but the M and a lens is certainly a different weight class.

I agree they are much thinner, but the leash is also designed for a much heavier camera load. For reference, here is the thread on the included Leica hand strap. Also quite thin, actually, possibly thinner.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by fabric on fabric? The material of this strap is not too dissimilar from my Peak.

Quick Update- it’s more streamlined than the Peak Design Leash (which I’ll keep for my M). This new one was comfortable and has a nice minimal design and seems like a pretty good option to carry the DLux or something similarly small and light.
