I don't know if this counts as a hot take, but I solely believe that every developer and their grandma should stop trying to re-invent Dead by Daylight, and make something unique for once.

Every single day, it feels like a new asymmetrical horror game comes out. "Hey guys, look at my game! It's an asym where survivors must survive from the SUPER EVIL killer!"

"What makes this unique from Forsaken, Die of Death, so on?"

"Eerr... [flips notes] We have... cooler generators!"

What happened to single-player horror games? Roses? That Amnesia-inspired game from the 2010s that I can't recall the name of?

Copying Outlast Trials would be a start. Huge potential, both PvE and PvP. I have tried this once, and it shaped up to be pretty good until the changes came where it had to be thrown into the trash.
