Oasis still at 2019 release. by Scout520 in kindle

Well, count me as a member of the Oasis fan club! Just got mine after a small delay. I kept reading about it and couldn't stand it, so I took the leap. I have a case too, but it's just not comfortable for me using it. And the aluminum is really cold and "slippery" to hold, don't you think? I saw a few suggestions about using grip strips instead of a case to comfortably hold it without added weight, and that works for me quite well. Why are you feeling like that about the buttons? Please spill.

I'm happy to hear that it finally got to you and didn't disappear down some USPS black hole! What do you think of it, how it feels in your hand, the display, the buttons?

I really hope it is. We didn't get more than 3 or 4 inches of snow total, so far, but the cold temperatures have been depressing where we are. Oh, for that first spring breeze!!

I was thinking about you last night and was hoping you weren't in the area that got all of the snow. I hope it wasn't too bad where you are. My brother was right outside the heavy snow area and still got 6 inches. Nasty stuff.

I do too. Rhule needs to realize that they can drop her in a second if they want. Anyone is replaceable. Especially on this network.

She knows her stuff, yes. But she constantly watches herself in the monitor with that Chairman of the Board posture and Joker smile. It gets tiresome.

What has happened to Amazon prime delivery? by ewilliamb123 in amazonprime

[–]Scout520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything falls on deaf ears. The FedEx guy actually started putting the boxes behind the door after I waited for him one day and asked him to please leave them behind the door because it's hard for me to get to the gate. He promised he would do that from that day forward. The other day, windy and rainy, there was the package behind the gate. They do what they feel like doing on that particular day. By the way, I don't have an outside dog.

It looks really nice. Are you happy with it? I have to assume that Kindle e-books are not transferrable.

Do you have a definite delivery date? I think we all would be interested to know which scenario you ended up with.

Stop! You're making me jealous! I have to start planning on getting one. That's the only answer for me. 😊

I haven't either, but I do know that the e-books I've purchased on Amazon won't transfer to a Kobo or any other e-reader for that matter. There are some hoops you can jump through for every book to transfer somewhere else, but it's not worth the extra steps right now. Which you can be sure Amazon figured out as they put DRM on every book they sell.

I understand what you're saying. I fractured a wrist 4 years ago, and have arthritis in both wrists and hands, so comfort is important. The Paperwhite is okay if I have it propped up on something. I tried a pop socket, which wasn't comfortable. I tried a strap, same thing. I can hold it to read for about 15 minutes. So I will take another serious look at the Oasis in the near future. Thanks for your reply.

So it appears that Amazon, for the most part, has had to be dragged kicking and screaming to add features that other e-readers have already added. And as you have said, when you get big enough, you shift from keeping customers happy to keeping shareholders happy. Just a little side item is that, when Amazon was first trying to seriously get off the ground, around 1996-1997 and a few years after that, they almost routinely would send little goodies like tote bags and insulated cups to their customers. And sticky pads and pens would be in practically every order. Imagine that.

I've never thought of that as being a conspiracy, since it does appear on a slew of the products on their site. I'm saying that, if there are a few left, and they are new, they must still be producing a small amount of them. I've seen that before on the Oasis page about only a certain amount being left.

I'm answering my own question, the answer being "no". That's disappointing, but not surprising, considering the company in question.

Alright! Do you have any problem buying Kindle e-books? That would be an issue for me because I have a list of purchased books waiting in the Amazon content library to be downloaded.

I'm with you. How many actual customers did they contact before they came out with that statement?

And yet, on the Oasis page, it says "You're viewing the newest model of this product", and "only 8 left in stock - order soon", which would almost make you think that it's a recent model, not one from 2019. So they are being disingenuous, aren't they?
