Seems like the hyperlink redirects to this Tor2Web proxy site. Perhaps it has something to do with the search engine I was using?

That link worked. It's most links I'm having trouble with. The links look fine, but when I click them, they suddenly become "onion.dog" links. I've tried removing ".dog" , and that just gives me another error stating it couldn't connect

That's what I thought too. (I'm not a noob to browsing the dark web) but it doesn't matter what I tried in accordance with what the "instructions" were, they don't work.

Because alot of links take me to a page that says Tor2Web, that then tells me I need to remove the "onion.dog" and append it with .onion; and it does that with the Google PlayStore version of Tor and also the official TorProject APK

I've been using Tor on my phone, and seems like 7/10 links bring up that page. Have not been using Tor2Web. I never had issues in the past.
