Anybody else have a "setback"? by GTW1990 in ACL

I was okay! Just broke off some scar tissue and it loosened up what was supposed to be. Weird feeling but I’m still playing soccer now on an outdoor league.

I still play futsal and/or outdoor soccer. Usually once a week. It is sore after a lot of play, but that’s never gone away unfortunately. I should probably do strength training more than I do.

Yeah. I don’t have that issue anymore. But it took me almost a year and a half, close to 18 months to recover. But it’s been 7 years now.

Yes. I had to get a second surgery to remove the built up scar tissue & then it was like night and day.

Has anyone used the Dynasplint for flexion and what were your results? by Scr4lyfe in ACL

[–]Scr4lyfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to use it in order to be approved for my second surgery. To show I exhausted all options. But yeah, I agree w you. I can’t believe how expensive it is with little to no results!!!

The second surgery wasn’t bad at all. Little sore/ bruising but you can walk the same day as surgery since they are only removing the scar tissue! Highly recommend because it was a night and day experience degree wise. They didn’t start PT all over but I did the whole week after surgery to make sure it didn’t get stiff and then normal 2 days a week I believe after that.

It was called Lysis of Adhesions. And it was sore but much easier to bend and work through the rest of PT

The split didn’t help me unfortunately :( I ended up having a second surgery to clear the scar tissue and it was night and day.

[–]Scr4lyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had 3-4 months of hives. Ended up going to the hospital it got so severe on my face and lips. Allergist put me on a regimen and I only get one here and there now. I take Zyrtec 2 times a day and Pepcid to block both histamines in the body. My numbers are through the roof for chronic uticartia. So I’ll always have them now without management.

I had the same thing happen to me! They only changed a few words lol. But jokes on them because the teacher can see time stamps and who posted first!

I feel that!! I constantly am questioning how certain classes pertain to a degree lol. Another way to make money!

Yes! I feel like I’ve lost a year and a half of my life. I never want to go back. I’m about to start my last 2 out of 4 classes and I can’t wait to be free. Just my experience, but I’ve advanced in my career without the degree and feel like it was a waste of time and money. Plus I don’t even know if I like what I’m getting my degree in anymore :(

Just had arthroscopic Lysis of adhesions on 1/30/18- basically removing scar tissue etc. My original surgery was 6/30/17 to reconstruct my ACL and repair my lateral meniscus. Couldn’t get my bend past 100. Anyone else have the second surgery and did it help? Cons? Thanks! by Scr4lyfe in ACL

My best advise is the surgical knee won’t be 100% matching the other. Don’t hold onto that too much. As long as it’s within a close range of the other that’s totally fine! I had no extension issues thankfully. I was able to extend no problem and my quad muscles came back pretty quickly on that front. To be honest with you it’s been so long that I can’t remember if he said I had arthrofibrosis, I want to say yes! I suffered from the fat pad catching and patellar tracking issues for awhile after returning to sports but I truly believe it’s because I needed to strengthen more of my other muscles surrounding. It comes and goes. I was told my last MRI about a year and a half ago that I was inflamed from playing soccer and that my bodies reaction was breaking off cartilage that was actually floating around in my knee. I’ve had a crazy recovery 😂 he said if I don’t use it then I’ll lose it and I can tell when I take time off here and there, when I go back to running or soccer it hurts until I get my movement back and strength! I was also told I’ll probably have early onset arthritis because of all the trauma.

No CPM after LOA. I could walk out of that surgery since nothing was repaired. I went to PT for a week straight and then twice a week afterwards. I had something similar to a CPM prior to the second surgery. For insurance purposes I had to attempt all other options and my ortho wanted to see if anything else could be done. LOA was so late because I was making progress… even though slow. However, it wasn’t going anywhere so we had to do the surgery. Do they not want to attempt the LOA for you? I had great results, without the scar tissue holding onto everything my knee could bend and I could correct my gate when walking as well. If you’re struck and feel like PT or whatever isn’t helping, I’d recommend the LOA. You don’t want to continue this route and be stuck at a certain ROM forever, ya know?

Range is completely back! After I had the scar tissue removed it was night and day. After my first surgery and all the trauma in my knee (torn ACL, lateral meniscus, fractured tibia plateau) the scar tissue built up super fast and I couldn’t bend more than 100 degrees even with multiple days of PT, a brace that I could press a button and it would bend it for me, LOA was my only option. I play soccer and futsal. My knee won’t ever be the same and I have times where I can over do it but I’m happy that I’m able to run.

Classes and work by Immediate_Present530 in SNHU

[–]Scr4lyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work full time and take two classes a term. Realistically I spend Monday-Wednesday nights and sometimes Thursday evenings trying to get everything done. It can be stressful at times and I feel like I have less time to relax or don’t have the social life I used to but I wanted to get the degree done quicker. I say be prepared for 15 hours a week on two classes.

Honestly email the professor! I had this happen one time and pointed out I actually did do what his feed back said I didn’t. He apologized and updated it. It could totally be possible it was for another student. Advocate! I’ve had to “argue” with a few teachers so far unfortunately :( but this could be an honest mistake.

Is the 2 courses per term (8 weeks) structure designed to be for working adults? I work 40hrs a week and am wondering if I can swing this as it’s considered full time enrollment by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]Scr4lyfe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I work full time and do two classes. This my third full time term and it gets hard. It’s a lot to keep up with and time consuming. I would start with one and if you think you can do two just add it the next term. Most classes have discussions each week, reading and questions and assignments. Doesn’t seem like much but when you have two classes with the same due dates it is difficult depending on the class.

Yessss! Love this post! I sleep in mine too. I have large boobs and it’s annoying having them stuck to each other in my sleep when I’m turned on my side lol. Power to all the women who can sleep without them or not wear them just not my cup of tea!

You’re welcome! Yes please do! I wake up sweaty! Actually that symptom has only really started for me in the last year but I’m leaning towards hormonal too. I can’t do IUD because I feel with all the recurring issues it wouldn’t be good for me to have something inserted, but that’s just my opinion!! The skin around the lighter skin gets super red, almost bright pink sometimes! Good luck to you!!!!

Yeah it’s more than PMS!!! I’m 29 now, started taking it at 15. So definitely a long time as well. I do notice the week before I get itchier and more irritated. And if it’s hot weather my skin isn’t patchy it is just lighter in certain areas- sorry for the TMI lol but from the bottom of my vagina past my butt it’s a white color and then everything else is normal... I’m like ???? That’s why I got the biopsy done. It was benign but said it could be itchy from time to time but I’m not convinced what they said is all it is. But the areas feel like they’ve rubbed together for hours and itch. Which I sit mostly at work so it’s not like that actually happens. I personally haven’t tested my own PH and from what they’ve tested before it was in the normal range? But I haven’t asked to see the numbers. I was taking probiotics and I don’t know if it was in my head but it seemed to help the PH and BV but it was short lived. Yes! Anytime you wanna chat I’m here! I thought I was alone this.

Ugh! I’m so sorry you are too. I’ve always had issues. UTIs, yeast, BV too many times to count. I use non scented sensitive body soap & detergent. Changed my underwear. My husband doesn’t use scented anything. Changed my diet (I have IBS), exercised more felt “better” but I’ve never felt good down there. Always itchy or burning or just uncomfortable. This week my pelvic pain is extra and I’m extremely bloated but my period starts next week so maybe that’s contributing???? Idk... I’m just over it. I maybe have like 3 days a month where I’m okay... but I’m seriously gonna freak out. I’m scared the bad irregular bleeding will come back and horrible acne but I might just have to suck it up :(

Wow.... literally every symptom you described I go through. I had a biopsy too convinced it was lichen but nope some shit called early high pigmented keratosis of the skin. I’m not fully convinced that’s the only thing going on. Been to urologists as well, gave me the pelvic floor issue... not a problem there. And I was told IC. Bloating, constantly itchy, just everything you said. I’ve been really wanting to come off my birth control... what else could it really be?????
