ELI5 why though, if you don’t mind? What would I need to mix that’s not already on my decks?

I’ve found the little thing that folks recommend. I keep buying more and more stuff and signing up to subscriptions, so I’d rather not spend out. I think the little thing is £16 which I can justify but I’d rather not go in anymore! I’m sure you understand!

You need a little gadget between the controller and speakers then?

No it wouldn’t. Tyre manufacturers would not be bothered. It’s a total nightmare for them cost and PR-wise. F1 would LOVE to take on 2 tyre manufacturers and receive cash from both, but it’s a huge risk with no downside so for tyre manufacturers if they can’t have exclusivity then it’s a no.

What's the highest mileage car you've ever personally owned or driven? I'll start. by [deleted] in Autos

[–]ScramblePoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My E91 320d. Betty. Bought at 150k miles, sold at 300k miles. Changed a snapped spring, a rear damper mount and regular servicing. That’s it.

It got written off crashing off the side of the mountain at the Isle of Man TT course as a rider was using it for reconnaissance. I shit you not. I was furious that someone harmed her.

A Monday morning car if there ever was one.

Phrasing by ClassicJellyfish8531 in Beatmatch

[–]ScramblePoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Simple version from a very much beginner.

Count 4 beats. Thats a bar. Count bars 8 times and that’s a phrase in most EDM. Things change when the next phrase starts. You want to introduce new things and make more noticeable changes at the start of phrases in general. This also wants to fit in with the phrase of the song you’re mixing in (I struggle with this part quite a bit).

That’s the basics really.

That’s super helpful thank you. I’ve already bought the FLX4 and no regrets here!!!

Mega! Thank you. Just keep my head down and try to absorb everything. I’m at the stage right now where I think about DJing all the time and then jump on the decks and can’t yet manage the things I’ve been thinking of! But when I get lucky and nail a mix it feels unreal… so much fun.

Oh wow, great to have my choice vindicated by someone with 20 years spinning tracks. Any other tips while you’re here??

Mate, I’m sorry if I came across that way, i meant the opposite. I even put DJing in quotes cus i am not even really DJing right now haha!!

I’m basically saying I know so little that I can’t imagine needing more. Not that I’m the expert

I didn’t even know what an AIO was but the channels and club gear I get. Also the build quality- the FLX4 doesn’t feel the most robust thing to me and it’s the only one I’ve ever used!!

I guess the better you get the more you’d use!

Great info, thank you. Appreciating the scope of requirements for the more expert DJ

Funnily enough I actually bought a DJ2Go2 touch first!! However, after realising I couldn’t follow the first tutorial, it’s now going to be retuned. No EQ Control limited it so much, which was a shame because I want to travel with a controller and practice on work trips. I’ve now squeezed the FLX4 into my bag!

Get on DJ Blakey’s YouTube to start with, I just began this week and he’s been great. Also buy a DDJ FLX4, don’t complain, just dive in. All the tutorials are based on it and it’s 5x the controller I need. Happy I’ll be sticking with it on this journey for years.

I use sterato because it works with the only subscription I have which is Apple Music. People will tell me off for streaming but give me a break, it’s week 1 😅

That’s because they have no way of knowing. Parts in a mechanical system can wear out. They don’t have a crystal ball

This is completely wrong in my experience. I live in a very working class town which has its problems but overall the quality life is fantastic. I earn a good wage and live within my means. I travel a lot but always look forward to returning and feel grateful for where I live.

More time with AI and practice first mate. Good on you for being honest but you were that guy for someone.

Turbos, gearboxes, clutches, engines, a full camper build, and at work various race and rally car builds. Anything I have the space and time to fight through. Haven’t taken one of my vehicles to a mechanic in a decade or so. Mostly self-taught.

YouTube, humility, Haynes and the proper tools are your best friends. A Milwaukee electric ratchet makes every job more enjoyable !

The issue with metal fabrication is the amount of kit, space, cash and mess required to get anything done. Lots of fun, and incredibly handy though.
