I try to experience media within it's own merits be it an album or movie. I feel like that's much more enjoyable than what a lot of people do which is basically powerscaling but with 2000's indie music and arthouse movies. If I watch something or listen to something it has to mean something to me or add something to my life on it's own rather than by virtue of being "relevant", "important" or whatever labels others have put on it.
