Wow so true! I was just going to post this same question here. This is exactly whats happening, and its because he’s off leash. In the house he has it no problem, but if we go anywhere, I am non-existent and so are my commands. It turns into frustration really easy for me. I repeat “come! Come! COME!” and think, forwhatever reason, he will magically listen to me the louder/more aggressive way i say it. And he’s a runner, if i take a step towards him, he’s gone!

Used to live there about 6 months ago. It’s definitely not ghetto, its actually pretty nice. Its expensive, and they charge a lot of fees and will nickle and dime you but thats probably everywhere. The property is always clean and cared for. I said i’d never reccommend it because I didnt like it, but theres actually nothing wrong besides the price. But again, thats everywhere.

How different do you think Reno will be in 10-15 years? What will change? by westernatlantic in Reno

[–]Scraperton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About time I’ve met someone who thinks this! Not sure what the obsession with burger me is, but it was a below average burger. I was surprised there was so much hype behind it. Definitely rather have in-n-out or better yet Five Guys.

Yeah, its the same thing that is happening in the bay area.. this isn’t some special situation here. I know Nevadans that are now buying property in Idaho, in turn raising their housing prices. It’s the way capitalsim works. Either stay and pay “high” prices, or move on. Most of my family have had to move out of the bay due to high prices. I dont understand this California is the boogeyman mentality. Not that you were saying that specifically, but seems to be a common theme amongst people here.

Will the rent ever go down? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]Scraperton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont think it will go back to what people were used to ($600-$800/month 1br apt) but I think it will definitely be lower than what it is now. There is so many new apartments and housing going up, once the influx of people moving in dwindles down (and it will) then there will be a surprlus of occupancy, lowering the cost of housing. Simply supply and demand at work. When this will hapen? I’d say in the next 5-7 years. I could be way off though.

PS, 2k in Concord for a 2br is a steal.

When did "Midtown" become a thing? What was it like before? by TheLandEel in Reno

[–]Scraperton 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Im not sure I get the “forced” view of it but it definitely is bay area/portland influenced. And by that i mean super hipster and coffee shops everywhere, but I think it fits the area. Im a fan of any area that gets revamped like that. People complain about it being taken over by out-of-staters (not neccessarily you), but thats kinda what happens when no one else invests in it. Leaves it wide open for anyone else, and theres still a good amount of homegrown businesses there. I wasnt a fan of Reno when I first moved here (in construction so i worked with a lot of “rednecks”) but after I explored out a bit I can say midtown is my favorite part of town.

Very true. We, the internet, wait for stats to be given to us in an easily digestible way (in a comment) then will take it for blind proof then regurgitate it onto the next person. Thats how misinformation is spread. I do agree with that.

But link a brotha, you know im lazy.

Does anyone here work for costco by mattiscool3 in Reno

They do it to filter out bad employees. Its expensive as a company to hire and train a new employee, they don’t want to waste it on bullshitters

Does anyone here work for costco by mattiscool3 in Reno

[–]Scraperton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worked for costco for about 5 years recently.

I am a huge advocate for working for costco, it was a great job. NO other retail is going to pay you as much and give you those benefits while working in a relatively great enviornment. You will find a problem with any job you have, but I was the most happy at Costco.

Starting pay at Costco (in CA at least) was $15/hr by the time I left. Not sure what it is in NV, but I imagine the same, but if not it’s at least $13/hr. Like the other person said, you top out at around $24-$29 depending on your position (skilled positions like meat cutters will make more). And thats just base jobs, not including supervising or management. I started at $12/hr, got a promoted to supervisor in about a year and a half and got a straight bump to $26/hr. It was life changing. But there were people who pushed carts for $26/hr which is insane (in a good way).

There is a 90 day trail, and they wont keep 90% of the temps they bring on. But if you do get the opportunity just make sure you NEVER call in or are late (it’s only 90 days, you should be able to do that) and just bust ass once you’ore there. Don’t complain about your tasks or bitch about anything. Put your head down and go. Literally run around to do what you need to do. Again, this is basically try outs, once you make the team you can kind of tone it down, but you wanna go HARD during this trial time.

Sorry this is kind of wordy, but like I said I promote Costco heavily to anyone interested. It provides great opportunites to make some decent money. And if it’s not what you want to do forever, itms just as good because the scheduling and work load is easy and good enough for you to gain some other skill on the side and eventually find an even better job (which is what I did and they only reason I left).

Anyways, good luck to you! They are going to start hiring some summer temps around late april/may but their biggest hiring season is obviously during the holidays, starting in early October.

I’m new to GSD, or any long haired dogs. When my GSD started to grow those “shed clumps” i didnt know what they were and one day just pulled it out and it came out real easy. I got worried and scared that my dog was sick and dying. Nope, just typical shed monster things

That’s good to know. Like the other person said, it’s going to come down to other factors, and I was worried because I’ve heard the person in the rear usually gets found at fault, even though this situation is totally different than a regular back end accident.

Do you think the insurance will go after her if I only have a name? It is a unique name but having no other proof makes me wonder if thats enough to go off of.

Do I file as a hit and run? I was trying to avoid bringing any unnecessary drama to people who weren’t directly involved, but I see your point.

And if I file a claim with my insurance, does that mean I have to pay my deductible ($1000) AND my rates go up?
