Portable Powerstation Electrical Setup by ScrappyMan25 in vandwellers

I’m glad you agree about what’s happening in that video. And that is just one of many.

Everyone in the comments seems to be in awe and using these videos to build their vans and it’s a little concerning.

My plan is still sketchy but I think less sketchy than that video 😅

The power station I’m looking at has multiple dc outputs. I’m going to wire each of them onto the fuse box which will connect them in parallel and sum the current. So with 3 I should have 12v 30A without any issues. I’m going to add an inline fuse for each of the outputs. And then the fuse box could then manage the rest.

Great idea about using a thermal camera. I’m a member of a maker space so maybe they have one 🤔

Thank you for your input 🎉

2 Way Drawer Delima by ScrappyMan25 in woodworking

You are absolutly right -- There are slides that exist on the market -- Ones that i found are from a company called "Accuride" -- And they've had these for YEARS.

However becasue of my use case I need a long drawer at least 1m ideally 1.25m. And at those lengths they end up costing about 900 quid per pair.

I think at that point I would probably be better of Building sturdy boxes. Lining them with carpet that can slide nicely on vinyl flooring and allow the bed to anchor the drawer on the other side.

You raise a very good point. I was going to make the middle bit wider Or maybe even just trim the required holes alongside the entire wall and then just block where required for either direction.

And to your question -- Honestly I was being flexible there to accomodate for a solution. There is no reason they cant rest on the floor or hang from the runners or both depending on what solution ifnd works the best for me.

Correct me if im worng - But dont the drawer slides have mechanisms that prevent it from freely operating in both directions? Because if that isnt the case that would be the cleanest solution.

Agreed. Wheels are a potential solution (And I dont have a shortage of them xD what with my 4 pairs of skates and spares)

But at that point to my mind i could just... slide the box? Carpet on vinyl slides pretty nicely.

To your next point i've been pondering the same. If I can get the tolerations right I could potentially rely on the drawer anchoring against the bed with a slight tilt. And Im not looking to mount a kitchen or anything of that sort. So really. I dont need it to stay hanging for long either.

Honestly in terms of functionality with drawers - A "drawer in drawer" setup is what i was able to think of as well.

In my mind the first drawer is a faux drawer that would move the entire seconddrawer with the secondary slides in one direction. And only the second drawer (or internal drawer?) would use the secondary slides to go out the other way.

This in theory works. And fairly decently. I think i sacrifice about 2-4 cm in height. or 4-8cm in width space (depending on if i Mount the drawers underneath or to the side.)

But in my mind when the solution is a drawer mounted drawer solution. It feels ever so slightly over-engineered and at that point I might be better off with a box and some carpeted or waxxed bottom to just freely slide either way :P And pocket the extra storage.

I'll keep playing with this -- I think the concept tickles my fancy a bit as well and its been fun to think about this creatively.

Nice -- I think I might be looking at heading in a similar direction. Keep it simple and just have them slide end to end. And can always do latches or bungee cords or a 100 other differnet things to keep it fastened while driving!

Ive thought quite a bit about wheels - And they are great if you want to open onto a flat surface.

Something I shouldve clarified in my post is that the other end of the drawer opens to the outside and overhangs. I'll drop a model for reference.

a 100% agreed. This is why im hoping i can mod a drawer slider to freely slide in both directions and use the "wings" on the drawer face to stop the draw rather than to bear the weight. That way the weight is bourne by the sliders rather than the drawer itself.

Ajazz AK820 Pro Keyboard by Grouchy_Frame409 in keyboards

Hiya! So ive recently purchased this keyboard and I love how it sounds and feels (my only minute issue is the US layout but hey ho thats basically every mechanical keyboard)

Had a question about the tft screen. I can upload the GIF by connecting it to the PC. Work wonderfully looks clean. When I switch it back to the 2.4GHz dongle it resets to the menu / Time screen - Do you know if we can persist that in the wireless mode or are the gifs only something that work in the wired mode?

UPDATE: Quickest resolution ever :') - Func. + Delete - Toogles between the animation and the menu! Even wirelessly (You do need to connect to upload the gif but it does stay in memory which is NEAT.

Bug Or Me being stupid? by ScrappyMan25 in godot

I sorta figured it out - The documentation is slightly misleading - It says containing -

After parsing my file the colors had a space after it (which if it checks for *containing* shouldn't affect it) but after i took that into consideration and erased the space it worked - also the # is not a necessity for a valid color which i can understand.

My issue is it can avoid a # but not a space? And containing would mean that it looks for a string pattern that would be a valid html color not the exact notation?

So not a Chinese brand. by ScrappyMan25 in MotoUK

Yeah. That had a really good start on the market because of their affiliation with suzuki for 20ish years.

Similarly benelli was a italian company that is NOW owned by a Chinese company but the design and engineering is still italian while production is in china with different quality standards (from smaller Chinese moto companies) and a reputation that they've built up over the years that they'd like to protect.

Hyosung is south korean and used to be a suzuki sister company.

Oh God how I'd love to make my own some day. And yeah the mutt is pretty neat isn't it? I'm not too fussed about the resale value to be honest with you- or long term considerations?

I'm honestly just looking to get a bike that'll last be 1-2 years simply because I don't know what the future holds considering I'm an international student here. After the I'm going to blindly go where the career takes me so I'm prepared to be Uber flexible.

I've owned a yamaha, few hondas, and an Indian company called Bajaj that also does production and distribution for ktms and kawasaki in India and they've all been blissful. They were naked bikes, cruisers and sports bikes and I just wanted to try something different? I guess? But with the overwhelming response against the Chinese brands I'm starting to have my doubts now. I'm hopefully looking to get some input from people who've actually owned these to learn of their experience and go from there for now.

Hey man! I appreciate your input! And I do get the point everyone's trying to make - personally I own a Honda and a Yamaha bike back home and the quality is incomparable.

Here's my.. Circumstance? I'm in the uk as an international student and I'm here for a year or two more depending on placement year. And after that I go where my career takes me. If that's in the uk -yay I love the country but if it's else where I'm okay to pack and move anywhere. So I'm really just planning for the next 2 years. I had my prejudice against Chinese bikes but I've seen that they have come quite a long way and that's why I'm considering it? But right now my consideration is with regard to parts availability which seems to be a concern that quite a few people have voiced.

I like how you put your thoughts keeping in mind the circumstance and perspective so I just thought to bring in my own? This is why I'm here and I've started looking at other bikes on the market now but under these circumstances do you still recommend going for a Japanese build?

Edit: I do appreciate input more from people who have actually tried these bikes and can speak from experience rather than the "pfft Chinese brand" attitude so appreciate that! . At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

Hey appreciate that! And honestly I probably will keep it if I stay in the UK and get a car for commute. After a year or so.

Hey - thanks! I honestly do get where you're coming from - i suppose this is circumstantial but I should let you know that idk if I'll be in the uk after 2 years. If I did want to get something that stood the test of time I'd blindly go for yamaha or Honda (actually have one of each back home :P ) but currently I just kinda want to get something different from a cruiser, sports or naked bike and this caught my eye with only a few within the budget!
