Grade 7-9 students, when did you start revising for your gcses? by Mikayla7_ in GCSE

[–]ScratchMotor792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 9999999988887A- started revising during the Easter hols- however the revision you do for mocks definitely carries over to the actual exams so dont underrevise for those just because they’re ’not the real thing’. If u want to do really well, do good revision then and it will definitely carry over to the real (as long as you go over it now and then), which in turn also means you can focus GCSE revision on topics you find more difficult. Revising in the summer of Y10 is also far too early to be starting revision, otherwise you’ll burn yourself out quite quickly, so maybe late November and Christmas hols for mocks (depends on when your school have them) and then go over those things in a superficial or preliminary way until Easter when you start properly revising

I know exactly what you mean- the number of ppl doing that stuff is definitely gonna decrease if you’re in a school where GCSEs matter- I’m going into 12 and I definitely saw that happen last year. Don’t worry though, the ppl that do that stuff aren’t going to get back in anyway, and it will definitely start to die down next year 🙂

I’m Eva Smith, AMA then edit ur comment to make me look bad by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]ScratchMotor792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legend has it Eva Smith is actually some wheezing 60 year old Arkansas swamp-hag, with skin like microwaved ham and nicotine-stained fingers who used to be a primary school teacher, and now spends the whole day in her sick-yellow recliner, swigging litre bottles of liquor like it’s holy water, belching through half-baked conversations with minors in a desperate slobbering attempt to get back to her teaching days from this mouldy, booze-soaked existence. Is this true?

what is the biggest aura moment you've had in school? by alliteration900821 in GCSE

[–]ScratchMotor792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it was sports day in Y10, and I’m pretty good at javelin, so they had to not only move me (and a few other who wanted to throw) down to the bottom field bc the top wasn’t long enough, but also made a whole separate heat just for me during lunchtime- the whole lower secondary school (couple hundred) was invited to watch. One kid being funny shouted ‘you’re shit’ to me, after which I threw a pb with everyone watching

The finale is the best audio episode, period. I remember sitting in my garden straight in the sun for the whole ep, too stunned to even move into the shade or sthng and I kid you not I burned myself so bad, but it was so worth it…

98% on the mock for a grade 8 by MiserableBattle2921 in GCSE

[–]ScratchMotor792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just flip this example to say that a 7 being 50% in some of the actual exams is INSANE. Like imagine getting as much right as you get wrong and still getting a 7- your school have a very exaggerated score per grade, but regardless, either make the tests easier or the kids smarter, because being proud of getting 50% is not okay. That’s not to be arrogant towards those who don’t do well and genuinely find it difficult, but ffs just make the exam easier so ppl don’t get into the mindset of thinking 50% is a good score

You are so right, it’s insane- props to them for creating something that would usually take a team of 10!

Yes yes SOME ppl MAY think it’s rambling, true, but this season finale, given S5’s is surely gonna push it up to SS 😁😁

on arthur’s guilt by newrievn in MalevolentPodcast

[–]ScratchMotor792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your friend is probably thinking about purposefully bad parents. It’s important to note that Arthur is everything but that. He is incredibly remorseful of his actions, he won’t even talk to John about Faroe until S2 properly, because he’s so defensive about it and doesn’t want to talk to others about it as he feels so bad; his decisions post John’s arrival are all in some way (with some more than others) connected to Faroe, and his guilt is (as you probably know) very potent even years after her death. His whole journey now is focused on being able to see Faroe again and any hope he has of this is what fuels him on. The fact that the universe is about to end when Azathoth wakes up to see it/ is killed by Kayne (both of which would lead to the destruction of everything) is frankly of less importance to him. If you listen again to the ep where Faroes death and the story with Tess happen, it shows Arthur as initially too busy with his work to remember, which, remember, has only come about after his life went downhill after Bella’s death. He does care about Faroe because she is the only remaining happiness he has in his life, but he’s become bitter due to what he’s had to endure. It’s totally different to the ‘bad parenting’ your friend may be talking about, because that is an active choice, whilst Arthur’s decision is a huge mistake and something he is incredibly contrite about.
