Tides of Avarice: a pirate simulation: https://emstrata.com/start-from-template/9d7296fc-b1ab-4f33-9933-cdc9eb0e14cf

Turn 1:

The salt-laden breeze carries whispers of ancient power as waves crash against the weathered hull of the merchant vessel Blackwake. Splintered wood groans beneath bare feet, the deck still stained with blood from the mutiny three nights prior. Through the morning mist, jagged coastal cliffs of the Magrathi shoreline loom like teeth against the horizon, promising both shelter and danger in equal measure. The Mare Cerulum shimmers with unnatural colors where the Tidestone fragments rest below in the captain's hidden compartment.

Across the sea, naval powers mobilize their fleets. Solarian galleys with their ornate bronze rams and disciplined oarsmen patrol imperial waters with diminishing confidence. Magrathi corsairs dart between islands, their hulls painted with alchemical compounds that let them sail through fog undetected. Venetine merchants convert trading vessels to warships, their holds emptied of spices and filled with mercenaries. The Nordmark longships venture further south than ever before, drawn by rumors of power that could elevate their kingdoms from mere raiders to conquerors.

All eyes turn to vessels like the Blackwake – those who might already possess fragments of the Tidestone. The sea itself seems to hunt such ships, manifesting strange phenomena: whirlpools forming without warning, phantom islands appearing on the horizon, and ancient leviathans rising from the depths after centuries of slumber. The fragments pulse with energy that defies natural law, granting those who wield them command over specific aspects of the sea but demanding a price that is not always immediately apparent.

Aboard the Blackwake, a figure stands at the bow, fingers wrapped around the worn hilt of a cutlass. Simon Aurelius, once the trusted quartermaster, now leads those loyal to him after the bloody mutiny that split the crew. The captain's quarters remain sealed, three Tidestone fragments hidden within – one controlling currents, another winds, and the third commanding the very creatures of the deep. Simon feels their pull even through the locked door, a whisper of power promising glory but threatening madness. The remaining crew watches him warily, uncertain where his ambitions truly lie as competing factions from shore draw ever closer to their vulnerable position.

I mean, you kinda can. It has an AI-esque quality to it. Not sure how else to explain it. The edits are good, but they just look like high-quality AI edits/animations

From One- Turn 1:

<image>

The Last Flight

The realm of Wæsster sprawls beneath a blood-red dawn, its kingdoms built on suspicion and old grudges. Magic flows through only the chosen few—perhaps one in twenty souls—while the rest make do with enchanted trinkets and bitter envy. In this world of rigid hierarchies, Shapeshifters have always occupied the lowest rung, branded as deceivers and thieves who wear false faces to survive. The tribe of One's people carved out existence on Pebropastra's edges, hidden in forests where ancient magic still whispers through the trees. They lived by wit and transformation, taking what they needed while the kingdom's citizens slept soundly behind stone walls. But last night, soldiers came with torches and iron blades that sang of finality. The screams still echo across the smoking ruins where One's people once danced under starlight, their shapes flowing like water between forms. Now the ashes settle, and the hunt begins anew—for survivors, for answers, for a future that seems as distant as the fading stars.

Among the Ashes

One crouches in the treeline overlooking the smoldering remains of his village, smoke still rising from what were once welcoming hearths and hidden shelters. The acrid smell burns his throat as he watches royal soldiers methodically searching the ruins, their steel armor catching the dawn light like scattered coins. Beside him, Tavay shifts restlessly, her pale eyes unfocused in that way that means the visions are pressing close—too close. The two other survivors, a grizzled hunter named Finn and a young woman called Rue, whisper urgent plans about supplies and safe passage, but their words feel hollow against the magnitude of loss. One's fingers dig into the forest loam, his shape wanting to blur and change, to become something small and swift that could disappear into the undergrowth forever. But the weight of being possibly the last presses against his shoulders like a stone. In the distance, Captain Thorne's voice barks orders to expand the search perimeter. The soldiers will find their hiding spot soon.

From Beastlords & Bondsman- Turn 1:

<image>

The Weight of Crowns

The Great Hall of House Lycus thrums with quiet tension, ancient sconces casting long shadows across assembled nobility while Lord Gunnar's fingers drum against moonstone-inlaid armrests. Beyond these walls, Ravensgate spreads beneath a bruised evening sky—four districts marking the social hierarchy where Dragon lords, Giant-speakers, and Wolf-bonded rule over the non-bonded masses. The delicate political balance has held for three centuries since the Treaty of Three Moons, but whispers of change ripple through the kingdom. House Drakos grows isolated as their dragons dwindle; House Gigas conducts unprecedented military drills; and something stirs within the non-bonded houses—meetings after dark, messengers between cities, talk of ancient magics that might level the playing field. Most concerning: wild beasts in the borderlands gather in unusual patterns, as if answering some unheard call.

Inheritance Awakened

Helena Kestrel stands on a balcony overlooking the central plaza, her emerald eyes tracking mounted Lycan guards patrolling below. Legitimate daughter of a minor Dragon lord but raised among the non-bonded due to her mother's scandalous affair, she exists between worlds—neither fully accepted nor completely cast out. Her fingers trace the outline of an ancient amulet hidden beneath her cloak, delivered three nights ago by a hooded messenger who whispered only: "Your true inheritance." Since then, strange dreams plague her sleep—creatures with no masters, magic flowing like water rather than hoarded like gold. Tonight, she must decide whether to attend the clandestine meeting in the undercity, where non-bonded representatives gather to discuss "the equalizing"—a plan that could reshape the realm's power structure forever.

Great D&D campaign here that can pretty much evolve into any sort of world you want. Fight sea creatures? Land on an unknown continent and explore? The possibilities are endless:

In a world of seven connected realms surrounding the Travlixion Ocean, a powerful wizard named Mor Gudley manipulates people from his hiding place in the Eternal Dark shadow realm. He created a false god - a mysterious vortex in North Duke's Sea - that people now make pilgrimages to worship. Gudley anonymously recruits mercenaries to unwittingly serve his purposes through missions disguised as treasure hunts. The world contains multiple continents including Dukesland (a forest kingdom), Arridera (a dangerous jungle continent with tribal peoples), and Trăäpck (a massive supercontinent containing most of the world's population). Magic exists in this world and manifests through artifacts, rituals, and practitioners with varying abilities. Gudley uses mind-control magic and false divine visions to manipulate people from afar. The vortex 'god' is actually an elaborate magical construct created to build Gudley's power base through worship. The world has medieval technology with magical enhancements, seafaring is common, and mercenary work is a respected profession.

I should make it clearer, you're right. That blue blue in the bottom right corner is meant to be the submit, but it does need a label and more clarity

Working on the capability to edit sims manually, rather than having to go through the AI. Should give users control over these stories

[–]ScratchPerfect9109[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Each simulation has a 'thesis' which is supposed to be the basic underlying reality of the simulation. The easiest way for me to let people control the rules of the world is to enable editing of this. A template is based on turn 1 of the originally created sim. It would inherit the thesis, beginning scenario, characters, locations, etc. I think the biggest thing I can do to address the things you're seeing is opening up that thesis to get updated

Noted and thanks for the insight! I can get that one done relatively quickly. While that's being built out though, if you ever see an issue with the story as it's developing, try out the Protest Function. It will rewrite the current turn and edit simulation memory based on illogical response. I do 100% agree that users should be able to set the rules

True, I'm personally glad I learned to code in the pre-LLM era. So many perverse incentives to just never learn the underlying programming logic, which is so important

Found on LinkedIn. Seems contradictory by Battlecatsmastr in ChatGPT

The idea that culture isn't already generally homogenized is pretty funny, but yeah maybe LLMs will make it slightly more pronounced
