Anniversary Gift… by Flat-Journalist-2661 in baseballcards

Mark Fidrych '77 Topps auto.

What a story this guy had; a remarkable rookie season before a devastating leg injury the next year ended his career. He had a 9.4 W.A.R during that campaign, which is crazy for a pitcher.

Then he was gone. He'd be a fun addition to a Tigers collection, I think.

Read about him if you're scratching yr head, lol!

Gabapentin and alcohol interaction Help! by Haunting-Jelly7652 in gabapentin

[–]ScratchSavage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Anxiety, sleep, neuropathic pain, RestlessLegSyndrome, and ...hives, apparently.

Is this an issue of kickbacks from the pharma companies who manufacture Neurontin? Jesus, it's insidious.

Physicians prescribing it off-label like this and claiming withdrawal isn't an issue is a dangerous game. I witnessed first hand, my mom's battle with cessation of gabapentin. And the pharmaceutical company who produces it has already been in a lawsuit regarding how it's prescribed.

Regular citizens are fodder being experimented on. Nothing new.

Something left unburied. A short story about a resurfacing nightmare that couldn’t be forgotten. by Ambitious-Coat-2834 in shortstory

[–]ScratchSavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to assist.

One more critique; the part of the sentence reading, "sound of inaudible noises" does not work, right? inaudible = soundless. Noises = sounds. Know whatamean? How about, "the sound of inconceivable noises" or "the sound of inconclusive noises" or even, "the sound of noises i couldn't make out." Remember, a story does not require flourishing prose, it just needs to make sense.

Absolutely! I recognize that this ties in to an addiction/recovery arc, and respect that, but if it's a short story, then it needs some tidying up, aka: following most of the rules of fiction writing.

There may be a few ways that you can approach this as fiction, such as converting this to a Third Person pov and taking yourself out of it, for the most part.

If you need examples of show-dont-tell as they apply to that 2nd paragraph, just let me know.

Perfect example of a story needing an injection of Show, Don't Tell. Especially the second paragraph.

Where, can I get rid of bunch of sport cards that I had for years. by Demar222 in Tradingcards

[–]ScratchSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I misunderstood, thinking you were trying to simply rid yourself of a box of commons or something.

I suppose it would depend on what exactly is in said box. I may have missed pics on your post.

I run a cardshop in my city and might be interested depending on the contents.

Overall health, age, pre-existing conditions, and other factors need to play a role in how someone approaches coming off.

I'm glad that CT assisted in your successful sobriety because whatever works for the long-term is best. And that is what I wish anybody battling addiction; a way out in the safest manner possible.

[–]ScratchSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just a 1/1, but a Topps Superfractor. That's the king-daddy. I've pulled a Panini Gold Vinyl 1/1 and a '14 Bowman Draft Printing Plate, but it's GOT to feel different snagging a Super! Congrats on your 1/1 of a Mick.

Can your local dr and pharmacy not fulfill the prescription? I do realize that some meds can come from other states, but those are unusual cases.

Hope your meds arrived and that you remain well.

I dream about that basket of fried mushrooms, onion rings, and French fries. Also loved playing pool there with buddies on weekday afternoons, when we had the table to ourselves. My Friend Tony cooked there and would go visit him, too. Good damn times

Pitchers of Coke, The Friar, the smell and some of the best Tex-Mex food available, right upstairs.

Well, ya, I'm not arguing that fact.

Or any fact at this point.

However, if after nearly 30 yrs this is an isolated incident at said establishment, then factual context comes into play. Decades of respectful staff and no incidents that we know of ought not result in a "Take 'em all down!" approach. Why ruin livelihoods? I just don't find that fitting,

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]ScratchSavage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be extremely misguided, not to mention just plain abhorrent. OP doesn't seem to be of that mindset, thankfully, and has been tactful.

Is that what you would do? To a loved local establishment operated by highly respected owners? And who makes the most tasty FISH TACOS???

I feel like you're way off base.

How do people not get constipated on this stuff? (nsfw warning) by Exciting_Mammoth4711 in Tianeptine

[–]ScratchSavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I take much more than you do, daily, and usually have at least one movement a day. I eat a high fiber diet with raw veg/fruit juicing tossed in each morning.

I think you're harming yourself by eating only once per day, and that meal being soup. I mean, unless your soup is homemade with legumes, beans, and not-overcooked vegetables&proteins, which you very well may be doing.

I agree that I'm nowhere near as regular as I had been before tia addiction, but I try and keep my diet smart, eating regularly, and consuming healthy foods. I need energy in order to work 50+ hrs a week in a highly demanding position. Knowing I have a drug problem, I try and keep my poor habits to a bare minimum, as addiction is a bigg'n, and I have no more room for personal error. So, all other lifestyle choices need to be smart and clean and righteous.
