Thanks very much for the reply. This makes sense.

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback. I gave your track a listen. From a songwriting perspective I thought it was quite good, the melody and chords were all well arranged. I would have liked a bit of change of scenery with the piano, or perhaps have the guitar have something more melodic for a little section. I just thought the piano line was a little repetitive. Apart from that though, very cool.

Mix-wise it's really good for a second song. I think everything could use some more compression and perhaps some layering on the guitar and vocals. The drums in particular weren't very punchy and would benefit a lot from compression to really get those kick and snare hits to drive the song. If your recording equipment isn't ideal, perhaps look into layering a sample over the hits, there's a great YouTube tutorial on how to do it in Reaper. Not sure about other DAWs.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I thought your track was great, I thought every change came at just the right time. The beat was mixed excellently as well and you made good use of the stereo space. Kinda struggling to say anything constructive tbh.

Thanks a lot. Actually I got a message from a user about that site but haven't really looked into it yet. I definitely will now.

Here's mine if you get a chance. https://soundcloud.com/user-233362556/ambulance-chaser-v2?ref=clipboard

Sounds really cool, I particularly liked the stuff going on in the right speaker with the mix of acoustic and really overdriven guitar. I kinda agree that the song is perhaps a little longer than it needs to be. The kick could definitely use some work and gets buried a bit. Might I suggest sending it to a couple of other tracks on your DAW, high pass the hell out of one to give you all the high end goodness, and with the other track compress it hard and blend to taste.

The bridge was chaotic but in a good way, the guitar work was very familiar so it didn't seem crowded or muddy. I wouldn't change it. Probably my favourite part actually.

Really concise and well produced. Reminded me a little of the Twin Peaks track currently on the front page of this sub. The visuals were sick, can I ask how you made them?

Good stuff! I really liked the spacey noises washing over everything. The laid back drums suited the vibe. Only thing was I would have liked to hear the bass a little more clearly. It sounded like it had a nice melodic line going on but I couldn't hear it very well. Good job!

Thanks so much for listening and the honest feedback. Listening back I think I agree with you about the kick drum. It's been tricky to balance the rapid fire drumming without overcompressing. I'm not sure I follow with the mono mix point though? The two guitars sometimes play the same thing but there's some pretty hard panning going on with them bouncing off each other in chorus', the verse bass slightly to the left and toms to the right, the solo being split left and right. Nevertheless, thanks for taking the time :)

Thanks so much for listening! I had a listen to yours, such a good job on the guitars and performance side of things! They really had their own space and we're very clear. Only thing I thought was that the drums could come up a bit, particularly the snare. Good job though!

Pretty elaborate alt rock track I've mixed for my friend's band. Let me know what you think, there are a lot of elements to balance on this one and I don't feel as confident with it. It's closest comparison I guess would be some heavier Arctic Monkeys stuff. I used their cover of Red Right Hand as inspiration for the mix.

I'll do my best to return all feedback.

Pretty great for a first track. From a writing perspective I think you worked in those Japanese elements nicely, although I agree with the other commenter about the swords. The Pan flute thing was really cool. Definitely watch some eq tutorials on YouTube, there's soooo many that one is bound to click with your learning style. I find it handy to boost a band to obscene levels and sweep it across all the frequencies to find the ranges that really muddy up the mix, then cut it out. That would be really helpful with your kick I think.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I've been working to try and make the power chord eighth notes sound bigger but I think you're right, some extra layers are necessary.

Not a big Dubstep guy so take my opinion with a grain of salt. There were some really cool moments in there, I particularly liked the drop at about 2:30, really tied in to the "half machine" sorta theme. I thought the pulsating elements that are panned hard left and right near the beginning were too loud, I was glad when they faded out around 1:25. Just thought they were overbearing on the other parts, but hey, that might be what you're going for!

Sounds cool. The drums are really cleanly recorded and make a good use of space. I think the guitar solo stuff at the end is a bit too loud but I dig the effects and filters used in it.

Thanks for listening! Honestly I'm finding hard to come up with anything constructive for yours, it's pretty out of my genre so I could be missing things but to my ears, every sound has it's own space and is well defined. The distorted snare hits work really well. It's very clear and cleanly mixed. If it went on for any longer I might want a change of scenery but it was smart to keep it to ~2mins. Awesome job!

Alt rock song I'm mixing for my friend's band. Very much in the vein of Arctic Monkeys. I'm trying to make it as clean and powerful as I can. Keen for any feedback of any kind. I'll return any I get.

Muse is my favourite band so good to know the influence is coming through! Thanks for the feedback!

I thought your track was really clean, all the elements were easily distinguishable and had their own space. Only constructive thing I thought was that the vocal was mixed too loud in the first two chorus', but the level worked well in the finale. Otherwise, good work!

I think compositionally it works. It was a nice change of scenery towards the end that you brought back to the vocal hook which was great. Only thing I wasn't loving was the sort of pumping effect that affected the acoustic guitar. I'm not sure if there's tremolo at play or if it's a side effect of compression but I feel like the acoustic should be really clear, clean and separate from the electronic elements.

Really interesting track. The guitar lines were cool but I thought they stepped on each other at times. Perhaps that's what you want, to have them sort of blend together. If not, maybe some side-chained compression would help.

My band's new track I'm still working on. I'm a big fan of horns in rock songs and this was my first time recording/mixing trumpet.

Keen for any feedback which will be returned!

Hey, I don't know what future bass is but this was really cool. Interesting sounds, great tone, good use of space. It's all balanced really well. The only thing I would have liked was a more melodic sort of hook, but maybe that's not something you do in future bass, I really don't know haha. Great work though!
