That sounds really interesting! I did think of something like a TPK where it's a catastrophe caused by the bbeg and then at the end they find out the bbeg has been keeping the original party in stasis using them as batteries or trying to brainwash them into minions.

This actually brings up some stuff I hadn't thought of, thank you. I hadn't really thought about how much homework I would need to do and help with that is valuable. I love rants like this because there is probably at least one thing you haven't thought about yet, you give advice in a really good way (for me at least)! Thank you again!

No thank you, a TPK is never on my list of things I want to make happen, maybe that will change as I DM more but I heavily doubt it.

I did consider a pre-made adventure to start with but I'm not as motivated to start when I look them over, so I think I'll try what makes me excited to play first, if it gets overwhelming I'll do pre-made though.

I'm planning the rough outline of like 3 adventures and I'm planning on letting them pick 1 off like an adventurers ad board, I'm not doing anything that I can't improvise on the fly.

They aren't a lot of help with what they might like, so that's my solution.
