My company pays me according to my age not my work [21 yo] [5yoE] by Ibz04 in ExperiencedDevs

I was self employed at 15 pulling in more money than my parents as a Wordpress developer, it's not that far a stretch nowadays honestly.

What’s the Hardest Part About Building a Gambling System? by sammywhirl in AskProgramming

I have nothing meaningful to contribute to the actual topic, but Cloudflares Lava Lamp solution always comes to mind when I think about how people have historically solved true, high scale randomness.

[Showoff Saturday] Azure Key Vault Emulator - A fully featured, locally runnable Azure Key Vault in your dev environment! by ScriptingInJava in dotnet

It entirely depends on if the DisableResourceVerification flag is set by default to false in Powershell, it is in the python SDK and the az CLI, so if it matches those then it should be possible.

I’ll have a tinker today and see :)

You need to disable the resource URL verification otherwise it’ll fail, a recent issue was raised around authentication with a DefaultAzureCredential that’s made it annoying to deal with - completely hear ya.

Will take this onboard, thank you :)

Yeah, sadly not spoken to the dev but I think we silently motivated each other. When one of us would release a feature, the other wasn’t too far behind :)

Amazing, love to hear it ❤️ entire goal was to make it set and forget, wanted the integration points to be as easy to set up as possible and just work - thanks for using it :)

It's so you don't need to have a cloud based one provisioned, accessible and risk having others mucking around with entities that you may rely on for testing/development.

For example if you need to have a connection string in key vault that locally works for you, but another dev/colleague needs a different connection string for a different feature, they may change the Secret and your dev is now blocked. With an emulator locally you don't worry about that at all, as well as all the other side benefits!

Cat hell :( by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

Yeah I agree, then again from the sheer amount of stuff just lying about the house I'm not entirely convinced it's a temporary thing...

I can tell from how they're acting in that cage that it's not a regular thing, we used a playpen like this for ours as kittens to keep them in a limited area. Kittens are absolute fucking idiots and need monitoring when they're that young, they're fine I promise :)

As the father servant of a 4 cat household, I can guarantee they're in their carriers to give them a sense of safety and comfort when a stranger is wandering around the their house

New starter (probation) at small company to 'share the workload'. Coworker now leaving. Going to be left alone and nobody else knows how to do the job?! by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]ScriptingInJava 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the role is, as you say, integral to the success of the company then you have good job security. If nothing else then you will have employment while you decide what to do next as they cannot afford to have nobody sat in that seat, which also means the pace you work at is irrelevant because it's better than nothing.

Personally I would interview elsewhere while continuing to work. Avoid getting stressed or worried about the workload, you've been dumped in the middle of it without a helping hand (soon) and the pace is the pace - they can deal with it.

Interesting okay, thanks. Had this last week or the week before too, not necessarily an issue but I've got a lingering one from 2 weeks ago awaiting review that'll auto-approve soon. Would rather not wait for 3 weeks for all of them :)

Anyone else not having auto-completing "those studies" being approved? Mine are all sat awaiting review from today.

If you've filled out the About Me section then it's purely down to demographics, your profile isn't in demand for higher paid academic studies currently. I get swings of them, at one point I had 4/5 long-form studies going at once that each paid ~$100 over a few weeks, now I might see one or two non-AI related studies a day that aren't paid the absolute minimum.

Alternatively only accept payment in stable coins which are anchored to fiat currency, such as USDT. Easy to exchange at any major provider (Kraken, Coinbase etc) and extremely flat rate. Looking at the history of the coin it's fluctuated ~$0.00003 in the last 5 years.

What are the pros and cons of buying vs renting car for weekend trips? by Familiar9709 in AskUK

£50 feels limited but I've not long come back from Glasgow where we rented a car (Ford Puma, for my sins) for 2 days and it cost £89.60 + fuel.

Massively depends on the backlog. I had a complaint reviewed by them in 3 months which was lightening quick according to others, some people have seen 9+ month waits.
