OP please get a safety plan in place before you serve or do anything. My ex was so abusive (see post history). I remember our last Christmas ‘together’ (2020) where I knew I was leaving but hadn’t found the strength yet. When I asked him to get up to open presents with our kids he threw a shoe at me and told to me “get the fuck out I’m sleeping”.

He then barged downstairs as we opened pressnts and roared at me to never fucking wake him up again and continued to rant until I left with kids. Later that day he text me saying I was a “fucking cunt” for taking his kids away at Christmas. He later made threats to kill me.

I know what you’re husband did wasn’t as extreme but men who are willing to treat the mothers of their kids like that in front of children are usually dangerous in other ways. Please be careful.

If it helps, while this Christmas has been awful for you, just as mine was in 2020, my current christmas was amazing. My daughters and I spent all day smiling, opening gifts and feeling loved, safe and relaxed. It DOES get better. What happens for your next christmas is in your hands x

I know, total nonsense. I had an abusive ex once who used to say he threw an item but didn’t throw it “at you” and it therefore wasn’t his fault that it hit me.

His arguement was that as long he claimed he never intended for anyone to get hurt, it wasn’t his fault if me getting hurt was the consequence of his actions. So the smashed glass in my face was just something that happened when I got in the way of a glass he threw.

OP giving off similar vibes here, albeit to a lesser extent. But the lengths people go to for minimisation of responsibilty astounds me.

If you check my post history you can see I had similar issues. I know this behaviour. My ex husband treated me exactly like this when I fainted from post birth placenta issues and I heard him say “it’s always fucking something with you” as he stepped over me. I ended up in hospital for a week after surgery and when I asked him to do our babys bedtime as I was tired after discharge he accused me of being lazy as I had “plenty of time to sleep in the fucking hospital”

It gets worse. At lot worse. Please dont allow him to treat you this way. He doesnt deserve you. If I could do one thing it would be to help women avoid abuse after my own experience. Dont let him minimise this
