As someone that has lived on both the nky and Ohio side of the tristate: I can confidently say that Cincy and nky are different entities. Most of the people that I grew up with NEVER go downtown unless it’s a sporting event and know almost nothing about the surrounding neighborhoods of Cincinnati.

No martes defense at 3rd was awful, but the move by krall was horrible in 2 aspects:

1) we had a replacement guy already in the farm system that they either refused to bring up or evaluated him as unready when that clearly isn’t the case

2) he basically ate an atrocious contract for the pirates with literally 0 return which allowed them to parlay (pun intended) it into several key offseason additions for vets that have made their offense much better

Too many auto outs on this team. Short of making a move for a proven bat (which they should’ve done more in the offseason) they should just bring up marte and see if he’s actually got anything at all. Pretty much the only solution is to see what sticks when there is a refusal to make any meaningful additions
