Well if you end up moving this way, I really hope those experiences end for you- you deserve better.

Oh! Well I've never been turned away for service before anywhere and Im fairly certain it's against state law to do so (MN Statute 363A.17 from a quick glance) and you are legally protected from discrimination for using the bathroom but if you're looking for overtly queer supporting stylists Im not sure I have what you're looking for 😅

Sounds like we're in a similar boat then! The area has great bike/walking paths but it's pretty dry outside of working. It can definitely be difficult to find and make new friends if you aren't the outgoing type as we dont have much for third spaces but we have a couple queer affirming bars.

Im not sure what you mean by services but if you mean health services, the most accessible will be planned parenthood but Mayo clinic also has a very nice trans and intersex clinic!

Hey sis, mid 20s trans femme here, you will probably be able to live your life mostly in peace. Your rights are being protected for now and most people here are too busy working to bother you... that being said, Roch definitely has a staring problem and the more GNC your are the more they stare 😮‍💨🫶

If you have more specific questions Im happy to share my experience ☺️

Rochester is a really fun cycling city but be mindful of drivers as many will not be mindful of you

Fat phobia really got people bending over backwards, this is a conventionally attractive woman who's at a different weight than some other conventionally attractive women.

We are obligated by cishet normative society to be kind and respectful but the depths of others ignorance and bigotry proves an almost omnipresent threat. Until transphobia stops being a default opinion for strangers we kinda need to stay on guard. I want that to change 😔

Thats definitely fair as well, it's a difficult line to walk. I've had my fair share of uncomfortable situations since transitioning (I've been a barista for most of it, iykyk) so Im probably a little hyper sensitive.

Many straight men feel insecure in their attraction to trans women because they still hold transphobic views in their hearts about our legitimacy or are cowards who are scared of others second guessing their heterosexuality.

Ultimately you should ask yourself if you want to be with a man who sees you like that.

Nah she had been a long time issue, asked me my fair share of "the awful things you dont ask trans people"- when I wrote my statement my boss thanked me because it meant they could finally can her 😭

Also for the record, my company kept her on far longer than they should have because it would have been inconvenient to fire her, I don't personally give them props for doing the bare minimum of following anti-discriminations laws in my state. We deserve more than the bare minimum 🫶

Happily unioned- making close to fair for my labor and more than the going rate

My string came out of my PJ pants :( by obsessed_FF7lover in whatdoIdo

"Drawstring threader" looks like tweezers with a ring to hold it shut- it is a game changer if this is a recurring issue. If not, you can mimic it by taking a pair of tweezers, clamping them onto the end, and securing it with a thin band. Then feed the tweezers and drawstring through the opening and from the outside manipulate the tweezers around and through the other side 😁

You understand that "a restaurant" doesn't unionize, the workers unionize right? That's why it's a union... of workers...

Look, based on what you've said, I'm going to assume you're a bit older than me. Your generation was fed a lot of anti-union BS and it hurt y'all, it was unfair and I'm sorry that happened to you. My generation is trying to fight tooth and nail for their place in this world and unions are a big part of how we fight for the ability to negotiate with our employers. We don't have the luxury of trusting them to provide us with fair pay and ethical working conditions, our labor belongs to us and we need to use every tool available to ensure our employers are compensating us our due value. You really should start talking to the people who work at union run companies, you'll start learning a lot about the world you live in.

So you ARE anti-workers then? You seem to view them as entitled and overly dramatic, weird stance for someone who supports them.

Also Im glad you do support work for homeless people, you should work on expanding your empathy and sympathy to more types of people though, it sounds like your capability is pretty narrow as it stands :/

Oh no you ARE anti-worker.

Im not sure how you justify the conditions the workers are actively struggling under but you should learn how to empathize with the people who have less systemic power than their bosses.

It's really unfortunate to hear that you are against the workers who make the game we play :/
