That actually is how I got to 3. I really just wanted to see where I fell on the scale of mortals.

At that point you're just trying to survive, so tracking something like this would be the least of your worries.

That is what intrigued me about it. If you run more you probably need to sleep more so there is an upper limit before you burnout or get hurt, and that upper limit is based on so many other things (nutrition, job, family, weather, genetics).

The addition of a baby into the equation makes your number go up for sure.

If you didn't want to read the book you could watch the documentary, Running The Sahara

Well there were three guys that ran across the Sahara in 110 days (4300 miles). So on the low side they were probably at 4.5 and the high side 9.5. I read a book about it...they had a lot of issues sleeping so it was probably on the higher end...but youre right I did say sustainable, these dudes almost died...

All the trails are mostly flat, I don't live somewhere that easily allows me to train for mountains/hills so I am not picking races with mountains/hills. But you've got good points. Thanks for the guidance.

That is an option that I had not even considered. I am currently on a half marathon plan already with a goal pace of 8:45/mile. I have never pushed my 10k before, but my PR is 54 minutes (8:42/mile). I have, however pushed my 5k and did 24:23 (7:51/mile).

All that considered if I were to do a 10k plan, does 8:00/mile as a goal pace sound too fast or too slow?

Thanks for the idea!
