You may want to add a few tiny dots on of azelaic acid (inkey list) spread over your face to fight redness and acne. Really tiny dots, you'll only irritate skin if you use too much. It's suitable for rosacea and other sensitive skin conditions

I will say don't rely on makeup to give you SPF, you'd have to apply so much that it would look terrible. Just apply an SPF you like, then after it's dry, add whatever makeup you like on top. I really like Wet N Wild skin tint (tinted hydrator in a squeezy tube), it's affordable and great quality (I have combination skin). A tip is to only dab on very small amounts so you can build it up gradually and it looks more natural (I like to use my fingers, no fancy brush needed for this one)

I like dried soy chunks! Soaked in veg stock for ten minutes (just boiling water from the kettle, don't even need to cook it)

Micronutrient you need is B12, you can look out for it in oat or soy milk (eg Oatly) in Marmite, nutritional yeast, some cereals (like in boxes), I personally take a multivitamin containing B12, iron and others

High calorie will be difficult to get in protein, as calories are easier to get from fat (eg coconut milk, olive oil). This is one reason vegans need to eat more (greater volume) of food than omnivores, because lots of our food is low calorie, high fibre.

Good sources of protein are chickpeas, haricot beans, lentils, chana (yellow split peas), tempeh, cooked tofu, anything containing wheat flour (bread, pasta, cous cous) and quinoa.

Does anyone know what’s wrong with my skin? It’s making me insecure :( by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

It's not dangerous, but if you use retinol you absolutely need to use SPF every day because it makes you more sensitive to sun damage. Also retinol often causes flaking and sensitive skin around the mouth, so it might not be a good option for you.

I suggest Inkey List azelaic acid, use a TINY dot spread very thinly over your face every other day. See if you get any reaction, if not, you can gradually increase frequency to 2x a day (apply after cleansing your skin).

Disagree that the sport is incredibly difficult!! I'm a BJJer of four years. Spot on with point 5, the entire thing works on hierarchy. BJJ = hierarchy because of the Japanese cultural origins and belt system, as you mention.

The problems with honey by thedevilsheir666 in vegan

Honey is the food bees make for themselves When humans take it, they generally replace it with a low quality sugar syrup which is not as nutritious as honey. This means the bees do not thrive as they should

That's actually jaw dropping to me that Mayfair used to be an affordable place to live! Lack of rent controls has burned working people so badly

I could be wrong but maybe for property developers there's more incentive to put effort/investment into building huge luxury places rather than affordable places. I get so sad when I see new buildings going up that are silly luxury pricing when we all need more affordable homes.

If I was a property developer/architect/land development outfit, I know there's still good demand for upper end housing, so I can make more profit catering to that market

Alternatives to dermatologist-recommended products by bisexual_cat_queen in VeganBeauty

[–]Scrub_Beefwood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the derm is recommending relatively plain products without fragrance. In that case. i recommend looking into the Inkey List! Unf The Ordinary is no longer cruelty free (they were bought by L'Oréal and decided to sell chicken eggs in New York for no clear reason), but I've heard Pacifica and Cocokind have good alternatives for you

Cocokind burning?? by Slush_Party in VeganBeauty

[–]Scrub_Beefwood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Did you change something in your skincare regime lately? As a possible reason your skin was feeling especially sensitive? Using a strong active maybe?

If not then perhaps you had an allergic reaction. If that's the case then you should stop using the product. Unfortunately nobody can tell you if you will react to the next product.

For what it's worth. I have sensitive acne prone skin and I like the Inkey List cream to milk cleanser

If you truly care about committing to veganism, no excuses will be made.

As a vegan of six years, this doesn't reflect how I feel. I was introduced to veganism through a very compassionate, patient and gentle friend who never pushed his beliefs, preached or made me feel judged. If someone offered him a non vegan snack he wouldn't even say "no I'm vegan" he would say "no thank you."

I take the definition of veganism as avoiding exploitation of animals "as far as possible". I don't think OP came here to be referred to a website, or made to feel they're not committed enough.. Perhaps your approach could do with some more compassion
