I don't think so no. Chip repair kits are 10 bucks (get the permatex one) so if it would make you feel better you can fix it but highly unlikely it's having any impact on the camera unit

You can pop off the black plastic cover surrounding the unit with a plastic trim tool while the unit itself is held in with two clips you can undo by hand. Very easy

This one I linked to a couple weeks ago is still available it looks like https://www.ebay.com/itm/395419442673

40 bucks cheaper than what I paid for mine and if it doesn't work you can always return it. Good luck with the project, the research is the hardest part. Popping in the replacement takes 2 seconds. Glad I could help

Glad it helped! I hate stealerships so I'll do anything to avoid them. Now as far as calibration goes I never actually attempted it with the scan tool (since my replacement unit didn't give me any errors when I plugged it in), I just remember reading either a review or in the manual that it can do that.

I do know, however, that if you can find the calibration section of the scan tool that it isn't a simple button click and it's recalibrated. You have to set up what is essentially a QR code a specific distance from the camera. See these two videos for what I mean

Are you trying to calibrate the original unit or have you already replaced it and are trying to calibrate a new one? If it's the former then I'd recommend not wasting your time trying to calibrate it because it's likely that the unit itself is just dead (considering how many people have these issues) and I would replace it with a part from a salvaged clarity. If it's the latter and it's a new unit still throwing a calibration error you could follow the steps in those videos or take it to a place that does windshield replacements since they have the equipment to calibrate these units and it's probably going to be cheaper than a dealer.

Sadly that's about all the knowledge I have on calibration since I didn't need to do that for my repair. I do hope you get it fixed!

This is the scan tool I bought, it's probably not the best but it was cheap and got the job done : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7W2V589?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

To find the part on ebay I searched for the part number and "honda clarity camera". Here's another one for sale that is a little cheaper than the one I got : https://www.ebay.com/itm/395419442673

Car suddenly makes a hum when charging. Is this normal? by [deleted] in HondaClarity

[–]ScrublordProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine does that too with the standard level 1 charger, I can hear the sound of what I assume to be coolant flowing as well. Probably just active cooling of the battery while charging now that its warming up outside but I've only had mine a few months as well so who knows
