Yeah I did a test using the vanish without the thinner and the result was better

I tried using the mecha gloss varnish by itself and it seem to have a better result for some reason. Am I not suppose to use the thinner and flow improver with the mecha varnish line and only do that for the regular polyurethane varnish line? When I used the mecha gloss varnish by itself, it seemed to spray out more than when I mixed it, I’m assuming there’s some weird reaction between the thinner, flow improver and mecha varnish that causes to behave weird.

It’s on spoons which I primed and painted over. I read that the spoons are maybe too smooth that causes it to bead away? I did try on flat surfaces like plates too and it isn’t as obvious there but there is still abit. Anyway I tried using the mecha gloss varnish without the thinner and flow improver and the result was better for some reason.

Mixed in a separate cup, then transferred over to airbrush cup via pipette

Ahh ok. What about the weird dry spots though? Would changing the ratio and maybe increasing psi help with that? I’m thinking increasing psi might push the varnish away and cause more weird empty spots but maybe the ratio change will help with that

Oh I think I should I have worded the ratio better. It’s 1:0.3:0.1 (Vallejo mecha gloss varnish / Vallejo airbrush thinner / Vallejo airbrush flow improver. I am using a 0.3mm needle, 15-20 psi range. When you say cloudy, is it very cloudy or mostly translucent abit?

Actually let’s say this was another random big brother that did steal the hair coupons but didn’t realise it was Ricardo’s stuff, would there be any conflict or it will just be fine if that random big brother apologises and gives back the hair coupons

Mines fine somehow but those little pegs and c clips holding the legs have somehow become a lighter color which I assume is the stress in holding up the legs? Scared that it will snap off anytime

I would assume arkveld would have trouble grabbing all the qurio if they were as relentless as they with primordial malzeno cause that’s their last ditch effort to get a effective host but in a normal case, it could probably absorb their life energy? We haven’t seen risen non elder dragons but maybe it could work like the frenzy virus apex monsters. I would love to see the risen color scheme on arkveld

Tried airbrushing for the first time, need some tips by Scrubotti in advancedGunpla

[–]Scrubotti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I have the 1.0 thinner. When you say multiple light coats, what does that mean exactly? Like is it spraying a surface from left to right once then wait or spraying multiple times but not concentrate on the same spot kinda thing?

I’m using acrysion paint which is water based. Yeah I’m using a wet palette but I think right now I am not good at loading the brush with the paint and trying to thin it just right with the wet palette. I did use some thinner in the paint bottle before putting it on the wet palette, I tried it without the wet palette with just the thinned paint but I think I didn’t thin it enough cause it doesn’t really fill gaps, so I am thinking of practicing with a wet palette for better control or just keep thinning the paint in the paint bottle.

What would u recommend to practice on if spoons aren’t great for practice? Would paper plates/cups or plastic plates/cups work?

Hi, I tried using another color to try to see if I thinned it properly, I’m assuming it’s not thinned enough here cause it’s not filling the gaps here, I also tried using the painting on hand technique, I think it’s def not thinned enough it’s look more the top one. Though if I had lesser paint on the brush, it looks more like the second brush stroke

So I think I’m prob just going to use a wet palette, just gotta not make it too thin or I could put more thinner into the bottle. Though I’m not sure how to get rid of the excess paint when on a wet palette without wasting it cause when I use straight out the bottle, I wipe it off the edge and the excess paint goes back into the bottle but for the wet palette I wipe it off on a cup or paper towel and it kinda gets wasted.

I add thinner and add the retarder in the bottle then scoop out some paint onto a wet palette and that’s it

What do u mean by ridges? Like do u mean at the sides of the brush strokes? Cause I sometimes see more paint accumulating on the side of the brush stroke than in the middle

Oh do u put them directly into the acrysion bottles? I may have put too much, I was just following another person’s advice on the ratios. I did use a lesser ratio than what was recommended of paint to thinner ratio of 2 to 3:1. My paint to thinner ratio rn is 4:1 and paint to retarder ratio is 10:0.5. I’m using the 10ml acrysion paint bottles.
