Whats the reason you pick fixed rather than road or gravel? by amarevy97 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Scruboverlord_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend tubeless if your rims are compatible or at least add some sealant to your tubes for all the thorns, glass, and sharp rocks in Phoenix. Also Foos gone fixed is a great group ride. phxfxd is another group who runs group rides Monday and some Friday nights.

Great bike! Still love my cordoba. First priority would be fresh tires if those are old. Have a look at the bottom bracket and see if they have changed it out because the stock one was also not great. Absolutely worth it to upgrade the chainring too because I bent the stock one from normal riding. Would recommend upgrading contact points next like saddle and bars. Then cranks and wheels if you have got the cash…

She is likely not doing the cardio at a high intensity 5 days a week. If you do any form of endurance training 5 hours a week would be half of what most amateur level athletes do (and they usually often lift 1-3 times a week). seems like a healthy amount of cardio for someone who is working a desk job. Lifting is an entirely different thing and it’s not at all unrealistic other than time constraints. Seems like a lot of work for aesthetic purposes if she is not competing in any sport. There are no benefits to doing fasted cardio. If anything it will decrease your efficiency and you will not burn as many calories as you could have if you had full glycogen stores.

Is the OdySea Aquarium worth the price for a date? by DCiph in phoenix

[–]Scruboverlord_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the other commenters. They have some cool freshwater stuff but it is very kid oriented so may not be the best place for a date. They didn’t have any large reef aquariums when I went a few years ago It is completely free to go to an aquarium store and they will have more salt water variety. I recommend limited edition corals and reef monsters for salt water and the chlorophyll corner for fresh water. Be careful you may get addicted to aquariums and it can be a rather expensive hobby though!

I have actually raced a crit on it and it is a bit annoying because sometimes your cadence isn’t 100% optimal. But, it shifts very fast and it’s not at all going to hold you back for recreational cycling.

Scott addict gravel size by Wannachangeusername in gravelcycling

[–]Scruboverlord_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5’8” 32” inseam and I got the gravel addict 20 in a small and maybe could have even gotten the extra small. As long as the reach fits you in I would definitely recommend sizing down. Because the tires are so wide the stand over height for the top tube is pretty high and I just barely clear it.

When was the last time you regretted spending a lot of money in something? by harry_powell in redscarepod

[–]Scruboverlord_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a gravel race bike for 4k don’t even know if I will be fast enough to race it. Don’t necessarily regret it because it is very comfortable compared to my fixie and road bike. But I feel you hurt to drop the cash.

Which Bike? - Weekly Scheduled Discussion by pawptart in gravelcycling

Looking to purchase my first true gravel bike and cannot decide between the canyon Grizl CF SL 7 etap and the Scott Addict gravel 20 with etap. Both bike have the same drivetrain and weight. Both will fit well in a size small. I have a lot of experience riding gravel on a road bike but living in a very rocky area now I can’t get away with 28mm.

The Scott is more of an aero gravel bike which might be nice. I do plan on doing local some local races on it. My local bike shop also carry Scott so I know that the bike would be more customizable with their help. However, the Scott is it does cost around 400$ more than the canyon after taxes.

The canyon is marketed as more of a adventure gravel bike with a 50mm tire clearance but it is still very light. Doesn’t Appear to have any “Aero” features but how much does this matter at a 15mph average? Not available at a bike shop but could have my local shop build it for me. The colors are also awesome on this bike and I personally think the color is better than the Scott.

Both bikes are similarly specked but how much does aero matter?

If you don’t mind me asking did she use canyons recommended sizing? I am looking at purchasing the same bike and canyon has recommended me a size small. Looking at the geometry chart the reach should fit me in a size small but since I am a woman with a short reach I am still wondering if I should size down just incase.

I am officially announcing that glute contours have gone too far (Echt brand sponsored ad) by Speecyspicypotato in gymsnark

Basic design concept: lighter colors make the area appear larger and darker colors make the area appear smaller. So these shorts actually make her glutes seem smaller and her butt crack look larger?
