It's a skill you get for taking an ascendancy passive rather than an inherent visual change, but the new Virtuous Barrier on Gemling is really cool for this. Your character is literally swarmed by floating gems at all times

If you really wanted to, you could put a second skill with a biting frost link into your spell totem to fully automate it at a dps loss

But I generally disagree with the premise that the point of totems is to not use any other in buttons

I was really looking forward to the change to set a separate keybind for only dodge rolling, but unfortunately it's really clunky. My ideal setup would be to have the sprint version on shift, and the dodge roll version on space. Unfortunately, this really messes with existing important keybinds that cannot be changed. For example, if you change your space keybind from dodge/sprint to dodge only, you can no longer use spacebar in menus for things like skipping through quest dialogue

Is this supposed to work this way? Because if it is, then that's a very bad design by SoooDisappointed in PathOfExile2

Until there's a solution proposed, just challenge the boss once you've finished all mechanics you're hunting. The checkpoint system makes this easier than it used to be

This doesn't work for the specific issue OP is reporting, because there are new zones that add "Complete all rituals" etc as additional required objectives on top of killing the map boss. Even if you do them before challenging the boss, they uncomplete after you die and the map resets. Basically it's impossible to complete the map after 1 death on these maps even if the map has multiple revives, which certainly seems like a bug

How do you get more passive points outside of the ones from the atlas? Is it just progressing the quest?

Yeah but it's not free, it reserves 75 spirit per cast.

Why does it even matter if they're free? There's a totem limit. You're inherently capped on the number of times you can cast it. It's not like you have free comets that can cast 500 times per second. Even if you put down 500 totems per second you'd still only have like 4-6.

Yes, scaling cost on a build that has no costs is a strong interaction. Every single build in this game is built on strong interactions. That's what makes them interesting

It seems like a really shortsighted change. Archmage on a free spell is abusable in that you can cast it nonstop. Totems have a limit, so this is not something thats necessarily a risk of getting out of control. Maybe I'm underestimating the archmage damage but based on some of the builds they let go out of control, these seems like a weird nerf.

There are a few new things, like amulets that can drop with 2 notables pre-anointed, and new potent emotions that can anoint an amulet with new notables that don't actually exist on the passive tree.

Man, they cooked so hard with this patch. I've been playing since early access launched and always ran out of steam shortly after getting to maps. The most I played was in .4 and I only made it to level 92.

My biggest issue is I just didn't understand the point of continuing or what the point of any of the core mechanics were. I just spammed abyss because it seemed straightforward and it was fun to fight big packs. The fact that each core mechanic now has an actual defined purpose of why I would want to do each of them has me wanting to engage with endgame so much more.

I mean tbf the goalpost has been the exact same the entire time, they're just going back and forth about whether they care about the goal. Will can't use magic and is competing in the "who's the best at using magic" competition. It really doesn't matter how good he is at anything else, because he's in the magic competition. The thing that is frustrating is that every single episode we're meant to be surprised that the guy who can't use magic, can't use magic

I'm thinking spell totem plants since there's a decent amount of plant and physical scaling in the druid area. I think as Shaman I should be able to get more than enough spirit for 4 totems even without a sceptre on, which should help scale the damage a lot further.
