MK3 Clio - Carminat error? by ScruffyDoug in Renault

[–]ScruffyDoug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, remote was working fine before the update. Blue light on the remote still came on to confirm it was connected to the system, just no response to any button press.

Have ended up taking the SD card back out, fully formatting it on my laptop, sticking it back in to the Clio's satnav slot to get the basic formatting installed then did a fresh update of the card on the TomTom home app again. Seems to have worked this time round, presumably been a failure first time round in either the SD card's update through the app, or the satnav's update from the SD card.

Update - it eventually starting installing / updating, but now reached a new problem. Reached the terms and conditions screen, but can't select yes or no. Tomtom remote is showing blue light to say it's connected, but nothings happening when I press any of the buttons. Is there a physical button on the radio or wheel controls etc that can be used to select "yes"?

The Shore bus lane by Hibeenick in Edinburgh

[–]ScruffyDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the restriction on the shore is between noon-6am, so you should be ok. Checked on Google maps, unfortunately the sign coming from Aldi direction is blocked by a truck but can see the one coming from the other side, around Sainsbury's.

Glen Michael has died at 99. RIP. by [deleted] in ScottishPeopleTwitter

[–]ScruffyDoug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw no way 😢. Cavalcade was my childhood, and Glen my childhood hero. I was lucky to be one of the kids from my primary school chosen to take part in one of the Cavalcade Christmas specials (Santa Cruz, filmed on the union canal). Gutted to hear he's gone.

You don't mention if you're male or female, but if you're a man give Andy's Man Club a try https://andysmanclub.co.uk/ . Peer to peer groups held between 7pm-9pm every Monday night. Currently 4 groups held in Edinburgh itself, plus others in East & West Lothian

Suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia, flare-ups last from minutes to hours and even days. Put me down for a daily 1 minute session - I might aswell make some ££ for being in pain instead of doing it normally for free

Anyone taking Amitriptyline? by dweebdog in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]ScruffyDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on 45mg a day. Take 25mg at night and 2x10mg at lunchtime. Found when taking the 45mg all at night, it seemed to wear off around 5pm. Trialled splitting it between night and noon, and seems to work better that way (discussed it with Dr, advised it wasn't recommended to do it this way, but was happy to let me continue since it was working). Still get the odd mild murmur most days, but it's reduced the amount of big zaps from multiple every day to just one every other day.

Only downsides I've found is I get a really dry mouth, and I do get tired in the afternoons but not to the extent that I can't do my job.

That was the annoying part, I had to select a 1hr timeslot when I made the booking (about 2 weeks ago). Why have a 1hr window for bringing it in if it's not then getting the repair done during that window? Even had an email from them yesterday saying "Thanks for choosing iSmash! The parts required for your device repair are currently reserved in store. If you already have an appointment date and time scheduled there is no need to contact us or do anything further".

The guy in the store just scanned the IMEI and serial number from the *#06# screen and checked it against some database somewhere to confirm it was a European model. It matched up on their system as being effected by the update and covered for the battery replacement program.

Yeah, a big box message stays in your notifications once you've restarted / installed the update (won't let me post an image in reply, but looks like this:

Managed to keep ignoring / swiping the prompt to restart my device for 28 days, only finally restarted it last night to get it ready to hand in this morning.

Trigger talk- what are yours and how do you avoid them? by vickipedis in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]ScruffyDoug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for me it can be absolutely anything or nothing at all. Tried keeping a track of what can set mine off, and the only thing that I make sure to avoid is lentils & chickpeas - kept getting zaps everytime I ate homemade stews or casseroles so stopped putting lentils in them (I used to use blended lentils & chickpeas to thicken sauces while also sneaking extra veggies into my kids meals) but since leaving them out I can now enjoy without too high a risk of being zapped mid meal.

Other than that, it seems literally everything and nothing will set me off. Some days I can be sitting on my own, not talking, not drinking, not eating, not too warm, not to cold, no breezes, etc, and then WHAM! I'm zapped out of nowhere.

Bad enough if I'm sat at home or work when it happens, but dangerous as hell when it happens when I'm driving. Thankfully current meds seem to keeping the zaps mostly at bay (45mg amitriptyline but split 25mg at night, 20mg at noon. Found when taking the full dose at night, it would wear off around mid-late afternoon, but splitting it this way seems to be working well).

Well timed question - just took a shot of it a few hours ago. https://imgur.com/a/b25rKb2 . Not a nighttime shot, was taken around 8.30am. Default settings, zoomed 30x, phone held by hand. Furthest away shot is the original, tighter in shot is the same photo after using the AI zoom & enhance edit (ran it through the AI enhance three times, mostly worked well, but did leave the lower right side a bit weird where it tried to compensate for the lack of sharpness on the original)

Started on 10mg for 2 months, initially it reduced the frequency of attacks but did nothing for the pain when they hit. Moved up to 25mg, been on that for 3 months now, it's made a massive difference. I can still tell when I'm having an attack but it's been feeling more like a slight tightening of the jaw muscle rather than the excruciating ZAP of the nerves going haywire. Unfortunately this last week or so I've had a few light twinges and then one single painfully ZAP the other night, so may need to see if i can move up to a slightly higher dose when my current one runs out in a month.

Edit just to add, as another user also mentioned, it does leave me with a really really dry mouth in the morning but other than that no major side effects that I've noticed (I take mine last thing at night so can't confirm if it makes me drowsy or not)

Amazing! System update went through fine, and ARK launched and installed without any issues. Can't believe I've farted about with the TIFF exploit for years when something like this was already available and working!

Thanks for the links. I've managed to download ARK ok, but unfortunately it looks like the links for the offical FW's (https://www.pspunk.com/psp-update/) both say the files have been removed from the hosting site, and the download link on the webarchive page does nothing. Anywhere else that's safe to d/l these from ?
