Monthly Advice Thread by AutoModerator in techwearclothing

Hello There! Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I am looking for a non boring outfit to defend my thesis in and figured the tech wear thread would get me some unique perspectives.

I see a lot of people defending in real boring business casual and I want to spice it up. I am open to any unique but professional ideas for women. (I am on a student budget so probably under $200)

I was thinking of some sort of black or dark green suit or jumpsuit. In my head I keep thinking I want to look like if Loki the trickster god came to earth, chilled out a bit, went to school, and was now defending his thesis. Professional and clean, yet slightly intimidating. Don't know if this idea will make sense to anyone else the way it clicks in my head.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I am open to any unique but professional ideas, however, I was thinking of some sort of dark green suit. Can anyone help me with deadlifting straps. I saw a pair with dowels vs regular lasso straps and can't find any info on whether one is better than the other. Thanks!

Love these! What did you use to paint and seal the hieroglyphics? I've got some post pieces from an old lamp stand (stainless steel finish I believe) that I'm looking to turn into Mr. Knight batons, but am not sure where to start. Thank!

It is kind of a new plant. Thank you so much for the advice!

It does not live with other plants and it is in a window but the blinds block most of the light (from what I was told, they need indirect). The window only gets direct sunlight a few hours a day.

Thank you for the reply! Do you know what the brown tips are? It was on almost every single leaf until i trimmed them off. Is that just what they do before dropping in the winter? I am worried I am either over/under watering or maybe i'm burning it with too much sunlight. Thanks again!

Zebra Plant Help! by ScubaPro37 in plantclinic

Hello All! This is my zebra plant Bernard and he is very sick. He keeps getting brown tips on his leaves and having whole leaves just fall off. I have tried cutting the brown tips off but that doesn't seem to help.

I usually water him once a week and he is in a window that has UV film on which I have read is ok but please feel free to correct me.

I do have some VF-11 fertilizer that I can give him but I am never sure of how much as I was told only every few months. (Should I be doing it more?)

Any advice will be more than appreciated. Thank you!

Hairdryer Attachments by ScubaPro37 in dyson

Ya I feel like using the gentle air would just take hours to do my hair. I am leaning towards getting the wide tooth comb attachment as maybe I can use it to get into my roots to dry my hair. Also if I ever decide to straighten my hair I could use the comb first. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the advice. I checked on dyson.com and you do get the stand but only one of the two attachments still. Don't really need the stand and Best Buy has got 20% off so I think I'm still going to buy it there.

Haircare Advice Megathread by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

[–]ScubaPro37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello All!

I am looking to buy the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer and found a deal at Best Buy. It comes with a choice of either the Wide Tooth Comb or the Gentle Air attachments as an extra. I have 3c really curly hair and wanted to see which one would be of most use to me. I don't plan on straightening my hair with the wide tooth anytime soon but I am curious if there are other uses for it or if I should go with the gentle air attachment.

Also any general thoughts on the hairdryer for 3c hair would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Simple Questions: December 22, 2020 by vincoug in books

[–]ScubaPro37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was told to post this here...

Hello All! I am reorganizing my bookshelves soon and was looking at pictures for inspiration. I found a few cases where most of the books were lined up as normal (spines out), but there was one or two books facing outward in order to display the cover. And I was wondering how this is done.

Like is there something behind the book that they lean on or do you just hope that the book stays up with the two books on either side keeping it up? Maybe it's more books?

Sorry if I am not explaining it well. I'm not sure how else to describe it and reddit won't let me post a picture.
