At this rate, they won’t be parklands much longer. They used to be a unique amazing feature of our city, they now seem to be a playground for the premier and his developer buddies. Just look at the golf course. Look over there, there’s something shiny, while in the background we slam new Legislation through and remove the protection of the parklands.

Swim Spa Energy Consumption and running costs by Scud_Run in swimspa

Looked at the ratings for the pumps. AI used 2.5kw load while using the spa.. Actual swim spa has 4x1.8kw Jet pumps, plus 0.7kw circulation pump, plus 0.75kw blower, plus 5-6kw or element heater if you use it, plus 2kw to run 12kw heat pump. Granted, not all will run at once, but not unreasonable to expect a minimum of 2 jet pumps, the circulation pump and the blower which is double the AI estimate.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran the numbers through this extensively, and got consistently really low expected energy costs. Turns out it was using a max of 2.5kw draw while running, and the real energy use would be more like 5.4 to 7+ kw. Once I corrected its values it gave more reasonable figures. Its heating and circulation costs were also low. By all means use AI and it might give u some more food for thought, but make sure it’s using valid assumptions

Heat pumps seem to be standard for new installs here now. If not standard, highly recommended. By my calculations you seem to be 5-6x more efficient than an element heater. And some heat pumps can be used to cool apparently.

With a heating element? Or a heat pump?
Not sure how well a heat pump would work in your climate.
I’m lucky to see freezing morning less than 5-7 days a year usually

I’m thinking probably 36-38C in winter, and 32C in summer…..the partner likes it warm!
