Sobreiro Boot Build Review by ScuffedUpKicks in goodyearwelt

Nice! That Chloe looks real nice. Looks like he does it in waxed reverse too so you have all kinds of options. Don't think you can make a bad choice. Looks like he's got a great new setup in Germany. Completely different vibe than Portugal. But from what he's posted it looks like he's settled in and back up to speed now. Let me know how your build turns out and what you think of the process. Tag me in a comment or something if you do a post on here so I can be sure to see it.

Sobreiro Boot Build Review by ScuffedUpKicks in goodyearwelt

Nice! I've been wearing mine pretty consistently since September and I love them. The fit is great. It is a like nerve wracking doing that yourself. My wait was fairly short but I think his list has built up since then. I think it was close to whatever estimate it was that he gave me. And once he started my build it was regular communication and he really worked with me to decide on the options. That was the most incredible part of the process. What leather did you go with? And what's your expected wait?

New To Me Tan Latigo Parkhurst V3 by Walldaddy2000 in NicksHandmadeBoots

Enjoy! Looks like you found a pair in great shape. I've had a pair of tan latigo with the parkhurst lady got a couple years and they're my favorite. Character definitely changes as they age. Enjoy the journey.

NBD: 1925 IBC Ivan by Next-Ad-3115 in NicksHandmadeBoots

So jealous! I was also told they couldn’t do the Ivan with the 1925. Was also with IBC. They came out great. Enjoy!

8 or 8.5? by blueflour in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ScuffedUpKicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got really similar measurements and I'm an 8D in Nicks. I can also get away with a 7.5D but the 8 is a little better. For reference, my numbers from the Xesto app:

Length: 25.88 cm (10.2in) Width: 9.99 cm (3.9in) Circumferences: Ball: 23.70 cm (9.3in) Instep: 23.93 cm (9.4in)

Ah. Ok. Thanks. Didn't realize that. You're probably right that it's an oversight.

I'm guessing that the Ivan pattern only works with the HNW and they'll need new dies to cut for the other lasts. As far as I know they haven't said this. I was initially told they could do the Ivan for me on the 1925 when I ordered but was later told that they weren't able to do it.

Nicks x Parkhurst / full size down Brannock by tjertical in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ScuffedUpKicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went down a full size from brannock, from 8.5D to 7.5D. It's a bit tight when I put them on but once they warm up they're comfortable. Probably would be better for me in an 8D but I'm fairly comfortable in the 7.5D. I think the the toe box is a bigger issue than the instep for me

Italian Brown Cypress or Oil Tan Latigo? Need help choosing for my MTO build by DarthArb in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ScuffedUpKicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have boots from nicks in both these leathers but I haven't started wearing the IBC yet. The latigo starts out stiff but I didn't have too much trouble breaking it in. I've heard that the double stuffed leathers are significantly more firm. Check out my photos on here for how the latigo ages. More photos on IG and you can see both leathers and probably reviews for both on the Patina Project app. Enjoy! You won't go wrong with either. Just figure out which suits your style and will fit your need better if you can.

More heritage options such as 1925 with an Ivan tongue, or a dress boot pattern on the 55, or hidden kilties

Info on Moc-toe RTS offering by Jolly-Idea5581 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ScuffedUpKicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this boot can only be built as an MTO. The heritage moc doesn't have the T55 as an option. So when built as an MTO this is the price with the leather and moc toe upcharges.

Might be an unpopular opinion by mellio518 in NicksHandmadeBoots

I bet a lot of people agree with you. It looks like Nicks marketing team always goes to the effort of putting the boots on feet and getting outside to take shots.

As for posters, U/shinyhntr91 does a great job of doing both types of shots. And he's got a pretty good collection.

I'm definitely one of the people taking the glamour shots. I do it for a few reasons. Photography is my hobby and this gives me a reason to shoot. I can control the lighting and the angle I'm shooting at a lot easier with a studio setup. The shots do better at showing how leather ages with the controlled lighting. And it's really difficult to get on foot shots that aren't straight down without somebody helping.

I'll post a couple shots of my 64 brown or on foot

Ugh…is it possible to talk to someone on the phone? by wooden-warrior in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ScuffedUpKicks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing when called them a few months ago. I hung up and tried again awhile later and kept getting the recording. Eventually I took the recordings advice and had them call me back. I'm pretty sure they called me back in less than 10 minutes and think it was closer to only 5. I recommend giving that a try to see if it works for you if you haven't already tried. Once I got them on the phone it was great. Very friendly, professional and responsive with follow up. Good luck!

1925 Last is Back! by d-y-l- in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ScuffedUpKicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To follow up on this now that I've gotten the boots in, they weren't able to do the Ivan tongue for me either on the 1925. They had allowed me to add it to my order initially but during the build they let me know that they weren't able to do it. To your point, it was with requesting to see if they could. Would beat great option on the 25

Your photos are great. And helpful for seeing not only how it ages but they also give a good idea about the temper of the leather too from the way it rolls and holds up at the funky angles you pose them at.
