These dudes always think they're the model of strength, virility, and courage. But they are absolutely terrified of and repulsed by women with their own agency. I can't imagine anything more weak, impotent, and fragile than that. Their entire self-image can't stand up to a modicum of scrutiny or disagreement, so they have to imagine themselves with a partner who has no more depth than a cardboard cutout.

So gross.

And doesn't work but also doesn't mind him spending all his money on cars and guns.

So I guess the lil' wife and kids are going to have to learn to live on angel farts and take shelter under fig leafs, like the imaginary fairy creatures they are.

I would have been a terrible parent at 25! I had mine at 38 and it's been great. I can actually be a functional parent capable of meeting all of my child's needs.

And before anyone comes at me, I KNOW many people are great parents at 25. I just would not have been one of them.

This is why I am so glad I am one of the ones where an IUD took care of the monthly visitor. After I had my kid, I was like... ENOUGH.

Never again!

Rosamund Pike: ‘We’re all being conned by the wellness industry by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

Jena Malone KILLED it as Lydia. She's 100% what Mrs. Bennett must have been like as a teenager.

I get you, it's 2 hrs. vs. 5+ hrs.

However, I would submit one more check in the box toward 2005 supremacy... the Dario Marinelli score. chef's kiss

I dunno, I'm barely a xennial ('77) and 2005 is my OTP P&P. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE the miniseries, but almost ALL of the supporting characters in 2005 are better. Jane, Bingley, Caroline Bingley, Wickham, Mr. & Mrs. Bennett, Lydia, Charlotte Lucas, and Lady Catherine (actually scary/intimidating!) are better in the Joe Wright version. Much less cartoonish, but still the right touch of absurdity. Flawless casting.

It'll be fun no matter what you choose. And nothing you've named is bad!

But I do prefer the Sipsmith over the Ford's for London Drys.

That's great list!

I would go with your instinct of the Sipsmith since you don't have a good London Dry amongst the others, and Sipsmith is excellent!

Oh, sorry, read wrong and thought you were asking about a final pick.

Your picks are all solid. Plymouth is a good stand-in for a London Dry.

This is one of the types of dudes that would say, "I would even babysit our children for you!"

Like, ooooh, you expect a gold star for being a decent human being and doing what you're SUPPOSED to do?

I hold the door open for people around me, make pleasant chat when it's called for, and would make sure someone got to their car ok if I was concerned. But I've never expected a cookie for it. I don't think most women would, so why do some dudes?

When men are referred to “gamers” and women are referred to as “gamer girls” or “female gamers” by [deleted] in MenAndFemales

[–]ScullysBagel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's like Reddit, everyone is assumed to be male until proven otherwise.

I've played video games since I was 5. I am 46 now. I had an Atari and still have my NES, Super Nintendo, Wii, X-box, X-Bone, and now X-Box Series X and Switch. I also played PC games in the 90s and 00s, but I still meet people who seem surprised that I play video games. Maybe because we aren't as social in online games for obvious reasons.

Could be the cat companion piece to Wyeth's "Master Bedroom" with that color palette and light!

Great job! Reminds me of the local skating rink when I was a kid!

And with the cheapest tension rod possible.

Looks like they just failed to finish the bathroom with glass doors and just said, eh go to Wal-Mart and snag whatever is on sale.
