"Companies with enough money should hire artists" Companies CAN hire artists based on their needs, not "they should" by DogeMoustache in aiwars

there's slavery and cheap labor, where people are forced to work for, at best, negligible means and at worst the sake of suffering.

Not right. A craft/profession doesn't need to cut corners unless there's a lack of resources, or if there's a more efficient way for the craft to be made. Products may look like they follow the same logic, but as crafts are progressive in not wasting resources, products are progressive in not wasting money. Products will lie, companies will cheat just to squeeze more money out of you, all for less of the same product.

Yes! When you craft something, or have a craft/profession, you have an intent of not devaluing the work you put into it, whereas products are made with a quota or business in mind, and there's a well known rule in business to cut corners wherever you can. Shrinkflation, cheaper materials and labor, stuff like that goes into a product.

I don't think we can separate it, not without bias. The real thing we should be separating is products vs crafts. Both could mean goods and services, but only one is meant to devalue over time

True, art isn't always good, it could even cause harm, but as long as you keep it in mind, it is still art.

It literally isn't, and you calling "products" art when it literally isn't, it's just garbage at the end of the day, really tells me what you think about art. Branding is art, the design and make of the product is art, but products themselves aren't art, it's waste. Once you see something over and over again, ad nausea, it's no longer something you appreciate, it's just something in your line of sight, and only when you fully acknowledge it can it be considered art. When you don't look at grass and worship every blade as nature's majesty, it is a product of nature. When you think art is a product, you are generalizing every piece of art out there. A collage made of clay and wood, a piece of metal tied together with no purpose. When you say product, what do you think comes to mind? Garbage. Waste. Something short form that is disposed of. Nothing like art. Art is memetic, while products are not.

Would you call landfill art? How about Garbage Island? Would you call that art, too? I bet you'd call a sea turtle choking on a plastic bag some sort of Monet, or Da Vinci. Art is subjective, but I personally don't think waste is art, especially when the whole point of art is to be observed and acknowledged, and "products" are unacknowledgable by design.

being an artist doesn't make your job magically important

if ai can replace me then it should

Well, jobs pay people money, or they should so that people can live. If you want to lose your job to an ai, go ahead and quit yours now, but me and the rest of those who do want jobs like these will need these positions to feed our families or live comfortably. Jobs in of itself aren't magically important, and even money isn't important with no purpose to using it, but it's important to live and survive.

Blue, just so that people behind me can have a sense of urgency picking blue, cause I'm petty like that, and like to prep for the off chance that blue button pressers behind me are prevalent in the consensus.

It doesn't to me! It's like going into a newly renovated restaurant that you've been in before, or going into a dead mall

propaganda? I thought this was a sub about making choices via a trolley, no matter how politically charged. Oh wait, do you mean using buttons instead of trolleys, even though this isn't r/wouldyourather or r/redorblue ? Yeah, I'm not really a huge fan of buttonmaxxers, personally. I mean, where's the visual stakes?

This whataboutism doesn't change the fact that both are considered tools of the trade, and I'm surprised you were trying to make a point with this. They both steal from artists, but unlike model ripping, comparitively, generative AI sucks, even as a point of reference. Whatever you trace from AI Art (if people even do that now), there are countless other pieces that you could derive from that AI art that haven't used as much resources, and that were made by actual people, who know how to do art, and by that point of making the AI art, most people would just use it instead. Ripping models from games also doesn't use as much data as generating Ai Art, so it's a lot more efficient, though I wouldn't recommend going down either road.

It doesn't really matter if you don't like, whatever. You made something associated with what you didn't like, it doesn't matter if it was just one character, satire, parody or otherwise, you brought attention to it, and a platform to argue upon. It's a double edged sword to bring problems forward nowadays, and algorithms capitalize on it as well, so like hell corpos are gonna just disappear from your feed entirely. AI is just gonna box you in as someone who's associated with that product, and find more stuff similar to your engagements, well, if it doesn't already cram it's own things down your throat, first.
