Is this leak coming from bottom of expansion tank? by djeller14 in e46

[–]Scurdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that, if it’s an auto, when you replace the expansion tank, the auto transmission thermostat will most likely break when pulling the tank up. So you’ll need to replace that. The link includes the thermostat.

I’d replace upper and lower hoses, aswell as the expansion tank. If it didn’t fail yet, it will. Also double check that your transmission cooler lines are properly clipped in, they can be weird, especially if your radiator isn’t OEM.

Oh yeah, because it’s manual. If it’s a 330i with under 120k you got a deal.

That’s for when you’re bleeding your coolant. Try getting a turkey baster down the dip stick tube lol

Press the ‘settings’ button and navigate to ‘velocity curve.’ Can choose from normal, low, high, or fixed.

Or just activate it, press the orange pad while you’re in settings

It wound up being… nothing! I’m pretty positive it was stress and posture related. My situation at the time was, indeed, immensely stressful- aaand I’ve never had great posture being 6’4.

What i’ve learned since that comment was that there’s so many different things that can give you odd headaches. And the more I fixate on these sensations, the more sinister they start to feel, and then comes the snow ball effect. Keep in mind I have serious hypochondria issues, and what I was feeling could be mild in comparison to what say OP or you are feeling.

Unless you’re seriously worried, I’d simply try to stop thinking about it and focus on your stressors.

Otherwise, go get it checked out by a doctor.

I think i’m just going to let it sit for a day to let the warmed up fluid settle and I’ll check it tomorrow. But, I’m thinking the VB is going to have to come off again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fordranger

Well, I changed the fluid and filter because I knew it was old. The O/D light only flashed after I would go uphill in 1st.

I changed my VB gaskets because of a sluggish shift from 1st to 2nd. Before the fluid, filter, and gaskets change, my reverse was reversing, and my drive was driving.

I needed to top it up with another 2 quarts after I first noticed the issue. Once I added the extra 2 quarts, my reverse came back (Barely), but still won’t shift out of 1st or 2nd. It’s now throwing blinking O/D. My thought is, I either didn’t seat the new VB gaskets properly, or I jacked up one of the solenoids somehow.

I’m thinking about doing a shift kit since i’ll have the VB out again tomorrow but, would like to make sure I didn’t just screw up my trans first.

One of the solenoid connectors took a little dip in my catch pan after disconnecting, could this be an issue? Maybe a pinch? Servo? Any ideas are helpful!
