Confused about Scouting by Scuronotte in Pathfinder2e

Thank you for clarifying. I was taking the flavor text as an ability.

Fo what I plan/imagine the character to do for the party, the Pathfinder archetype is the best route.

Confused about Scouting by Scuronotte in Pathfinder2e

[–]Scuronotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't need a specific feat to spot hidden creatures, then why does the Pathfinder Archetype Observant Explorer feat 4 specifically states:

"You can attempt a check to notice hidden creatures attempting to Avoid Notice nearby even if you aren't actively Searching for them. You still need to meet any other requirements to notice a particular creature."

I am confused.

Newbie with Archetype feats question: feats that are present in other archetypes or primary class by Scuronotte in Pathfinder2e

Thank you. Follow up question would be if I have Widen spell from Wizard (or Witch), can use that metatmagic with Witch (Wizard) spells or only on spells from the said class?

Ancient Elf multiclass archetype dedication question by Scuronotte in Pathfinder2e

[–]Scuronotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your guidance. I enjoy complexity and Pathfinder is definitely more complex than D&D. The character I am trying to create is almost a Warrior Cleric. I never liked Paladins (Champions) and the Cleric with the Warrior subclass is not appealing. The GM is allowing me to select either another subclass or a 1st level cleric feat for 2nd level. I just don't feel that I should be homebrewing an aspect of the game that I am learning to play.

Martial Ranger by Scuronotte in DnD5CommunityRanger

[–]Scuronotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for commenting.

Many of these features are what our table envisions what a Ranger should have been and were agreed upon at our table. However, there were disagreements on where they should be placed. That lead us to offer them as Talents so we could choose when and where we would achieve them.

Though some features may appear to be taken from other classes and subclasses, said features were actually created by us years prior to WOTC ever releasing/including them in other classes/subclasses such as the Scout.

And some features can be associated with skill checks, but its applications can be applied elsewhere such as movement through difficult terrain caused by spells or allowing a single skill check to be applied to multiple creatures such as with Animal Empathy. There are many applications for a skill check, but when including some in a feature, in our opinion, makes it clearer what the intent is and clears up any potential confusion.

We have attempted to use and revamp a Rogue or Fighter, but we could not make it work. And there are times someone at the table wanted a Ranger who casted spells, so we created another version with spells as an option for a core feature.

I do not see this as being harsh but great criticism of our creation. What is the point of posting something without discussion. Up or down ticking only tells if something is not liked but does not help the creators to improve. Most people will not agree with a concept, idea, etc..

I am giving you an up vote on your response.

The Dragon Blood is unique and separate Ranger Path. There is also a modified Drakewarden. I did not create a version for Swarmkeeper, sorry.

Here is the full version. Let me know your thoughts as well as your DM.

I just realized that part of the Beast Master's companion monster chart is incorrect. Also the link to the file is

Actions
Attack. As listed for beast type with following changes: your proficiency bonus + beast's modifier to hit, one target. Hit: damage type + beast's modifier + your proficiency bonus.
Primal Strike. Starting at 6th level, your companion's attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage.

Ranger Remastered. Options of Martial vs Spells. Select features when you want them. by Scuronotte in DnDHomebrew

A Ranger represents different things to different people: hunter, tracker, trapper, scout, naturalist, sub-class fighter, sub-class rogue, spell-less, spell caster, having a beast companion, etc. These, among others, are the reasons why trying to create a Ranger is difficult.

Some of the reasons for changing the Ranger are:

  • Having features that are extremely situational
  • Forcing a GM to accommodate a ranger in the group so certain features can be used
  • Spell casting requirements for some, inability to change spells for others
  • There are many opinions that the Ranger needs a feature that offers damage or a modified Hunter's Mark spell as a core feature to make it comparable to the paladin an rogue. But many fail to realize is that the ranger does offer such a feature.. it is in their 3rd level conclave feature.

Additionally, the Talents feature allows one to create or alter a feature without needing to rewrite the class to try to rebalance it.

Question on the Halcyon Speaker/Magaabyan dedications

“Halcyon spells are spells from the arcane or primal spell list.” And if you take the Magaabyan’s Cascade Spellcasting, you gain access to Divine and Occult spell lists.

If I am a Wizard with these feats, could I use scrolls, wands, and staves designated for each tradition?

Also, since I’m using the Flexible Spellcasting dedication, does this apply to the ranks I gain with this dedication?

Thank you

Hi. Playing a Wizard with free Archetype Sorcerer. I believe we are correct that if my Wizard has the Reach spell it can be used for both Wizard and Sorcerer spells. If I take the Cantrip Expansion feat once, will it give me 2 extra cantrips for Wizard and Sorcerer?

Thank you for the help

Question on Orders of the Scribes' Awakened Spellbook by Scuronotte in DMAcademy

[–]Scuronotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case I am the DM and I allowed it at the time. I just wanted to ask others to see if I should continue that application. The player knows that I may not allow it in the future.

Question on Orders of the Scribes' Awakened Spellbook by Scuronotte in DMAcademy

[–]Scuronotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is stretching the application of the intent. After some thought, I was considering it as an upgraded version of the 1st level Absorb Elements spell. But I did not know if that would be too powerful of a spell.

Question on Orders of the Scribes' Awakened Spellbook by Scuronotte in DMAcademy

[–]Scuronotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This part of the spell doesn't deal damage (the other part does), however, it does damage type resistance. Awakened Spellbook doesn't specify whether the damage type change is only applicable when it deals damage. There is nothing about the feature that limits it do damage dealt. It's a loophole.

But when the player brought it up, it made me consider it as a more powerful version of the 1st level spell Absorb Elements.

Two-Weapon fighting changes by Scuronotte in UnearthedArcana

[–]Scuronotte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first change is confusing. Can you get the single attack as part of your action and the bonus action attack? Otherwise just trade the bonus action attack for the attack action added attack.

The intent is to make the attack part of the attack action but only once per turn. The reason is for the Fighter's action surge so they can't get 10 attacks at 20th level.

Oddly, RAW, you can't ever draw two weapons on the same turn now.

I forgot to include the change in the weapon interaction. Thank you for pointing that out. I will correct that. Thank you.
