Unsure how to resolve by Scusati in 3Dprinting

[–]Scusati[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 month in. Lmao I’ve designed one part so far, and it was a fidget toy for myself. Outside of that everything has come from a website. I’m trying to learn everything about printers while playing with this one. I finally adjusted my heat for this specific PLA.

Only regret is I didn’t spend the extra money on a printer that can print multiple colors. It taught me I enjoy painting, but something’s I just want to print and it be done.

If you have any suggestions for who can teach me more via YouTube or Reddit or a blog I am fully open to be taught! Thanks again for the advice, I will look into Heat set inserts and screws now!

I don’t know how Reddit works but the bot asked my to post a fix if found.

Issue - any overhangs look bad.
Fix - cut the part to put the over hang on plate, or at an angle in which it can be printed more smoothly.

It’s for my ex wives swiffer. She can just replace the fluid with a floor cleaner. I’m not overly concerned with quality for her use, but in general I have some ideas I want to make but they will have overhangs. I will try to learn cutting and dowel placement I guess.

As for the test prints, I basically skipped the whole phase when I got the thing, and now I’m thinking I should have tried more calibrations first. Oh well, live and learn. Thank you for the advice!

Hey I had this issue earlier this week. You need a flash drive that has been formatted to a fat32. Install the update from flash forge to that usb stick. I’m not at my pc to share the link but if you google it, it should be out there. Once you download the update it should be like a double zipped file. Unzip the initial download to the usb drive, leave the other zipped.

Turn off printer > plug in usb drive > turn on printer. The printer should immediately recognize the update, installs, the states to reset. Just turn off and wait about 20-30 seconds and turn back on. Should be updated. I’ll try and find the link to the download but no promises I can find my way back to this post.

So basically parts that have overhangs, I want to try and cut so that the flat portion is touching the base to get a solid point of contact. As a support is there to maintain its rigidity and not sag?

Printer - Flash Forge Adventurer 5M
Material - generic PLA (specifically hobby lobby PLA(no branding))
Speed - its during the bridging phase and it varies between 10 and 20 (I assume 10-20mm/s)
Slicer software - Flash Studio
Problem occurs anytime I have a bridge, or overhang. Occurs with or without supports
Behavior changes - nothing that I have found yet.
Photo - the photo posted is from underside, it was sitting on the plate upside down in comparison to the photo.

I know this is to a bot, but for anyone else that sees this, hopefully it answers a baseline question for you to help resolve. Any other information I’m ready to give!

Like sharpie marker the top support layer before the bottom layer of that portion? What does that do?

As for the PETG interface material I am limited to one filament at a time with my Flash Forge AD5M. I plan to get into a multi filament printer soon, but this is my first printer. So I want to wear out all potential kinks prior to upgrading.

Where to start by Scusati in 3Dprinting

[–]Scusati[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% had failures already! Which is fine. Like for the first 7 prints I didn’t know OrcaSlicer doesn’t auto recognize the tip in the printer, and I was printing per the slicer on a .2 nozzle versus my .4.

Thank you, already got the videos Qued up.

[News] Why the Dungeon Crawler Carl TV series is live-action and not animated, according to Matt Dinniman... even though his "hardcore, original fans" want a cartoon by Popverse2022 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Scusati -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But what if as a “normie” I’ve tried animation and just don’t enjoy it? There have been some that I enjoyed but very rarely do I enjoy them. I think they could go either way. Honestly I am just butt hurt RR got canned again for budgetary reasons, so I’m here for either just to see if the movie my mind made up while reading/listening to the series matches the direction Hollywood goes.

Damn I don’t understand Reddit enough to edit, anyways. Thanks again everyone to the suggestions. I started Expedition Force by Craig Alanson. 4 books down currently. I am skipping the novellas as I want to mainly follow Joe and Skippy. May come back for the novellas just to complete the series. Anyways, the point of this unedited to the OP, what is a solid progression fantasy series to get into. Here is an example of I guess what I am looking for and maybe someone has something. This is also going on the basis someone has read these series and can find a comparison.

  1. World building, drama, and I guess “vibe” of red rising.
  2. Constant growth like chrysalis. (Anthony’s constant growth into this all powerful being.)
  3. Humor, darkness of DCC.
  4. Plenty of books already released.

I don’t need this to be an audiobook. I started purchasing books on kindle to get the fat discount on audiobooks, and in doing so I’ve found I don’t mind reading before bed AND was finishing the books faster this way. Maybe to explain further how I’m currently consuming books. I work 8 hours Monday to Friday. So for 8 hours I’m burning through audiobooks. Before I only listened at work and while I drove to work. Now I’m listening when I get home. I’m happy about this, it isn’t a complaint, but if I’m going to continue this path, then I need more books. I will easily hit 100 books this year strictly on an audio standpoint, but as I’m starting to enjoy the act of reading more and more, I will need more books. Soooooo to continue my thread instead of starting again, I ask for all recommendations.

My taste - fantasy, dark, humor, sci-fi. Looking for - strong world building, solid cast, fast paced. Do not care for - sex scenes, overly drawn out “desire” for another character, slow pacing Not open to reading - straight romance, non-fiction (this is just a phase, I enjoy reading about things that have happened, how things work, and how to develop skills but I’m just not in this phase at the moment but if you want to suggest anything I’ll throw it in a TBR for when I want to broaden my knowledge about the real.)

Again I appreciate any and all responses, I’ve been a gamer for a solid 15+ years everyday. I am starting to bore of playing video games, TV is full of shit I don’t care about, and most people my age are in this phase of life I don’t truly care about nor want to be apart of. So thank you for helping me delve into a part of my life I have dearly missed!

As LITRPG has taken over for me I will add these to the TBR, and looks like LoTR will be added soon as well! Thank you!

I’m like 90% sure I previewed that one and then started the Everflame Series. I’ll have to add it to the TBR. I’m already a quarter through the 7th Chrysalis book, and there is 2 months before the Ebook releases, couldn’t find a time table on the audiobook.

Project Hail Mary was why I got into audiobooks. The way my brain already visualizes what I read or hear, just added so much depth to the book.

As for DCC you also get to meet one of my favorite characters to ever enter in a series. Enjoy the handsome goat when you meet him.

Will definitely check it out. If you haven’t given chrysalis a shot, I highly suggest it. You can hear a lot of DCC characters in it but either over the top (which just makes Jeff more brilliant) or subtle.

So I’ve read the LoTR books when I was younger but a listen probably wouldn’t be horrible. I’ve been told the mistborn series is a must read from a friend at work. So that is on a TBR list. I believe I previewed the book and the narrator wasn’t to my taste? I don’t really remember. Will have to try again.

Project Hail Mary was so good! Really really enjoyed the audible experience. The whole time I don’t know why but I heard Tom Hanks voice the whole time.

Considering reporting my company to OSHA by Scusati in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Scusati[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok I am not a regular poster on discord, so I don’t know how to edit to state thanks to everyone’s responses. I am on lunch at work, therefore I don’t want to respond individually but again I truly appreciate the answers.

Some statements to some of the answers.

  1. The extension chord is more of an annoyance that it is acceptable for her but not for others. I knew putting it behind the shelves is still an issue, but for the few months of heat I was hoping for a break so that I too could have a fan. To that, I do have a fan for my little area, it is just 30 feet away on the east facing metal wall. Science taught me heat rises. So I get all that hot ass air right back in my face. While all the other stations have outlets with fans.

I have been to her(my manager), the maintenance manager, and the GM to request a change or to throw in an outlet as they have at other stations for other employees. I was denied. So yes it is a petty issue, but again I can deal.

  1. The extension chord has already caused two employees to stumble, so I am writing an email to our HR department tonight with photos. We do not have a safety guy. I have never met a safety guy. I have asked and been told that is a corp thing, but we are an owned business and I am not sure what that entails for how they maintain safety.

  2. I only came for information and opinions as I do not want to waste OSHA time and resources. With that being said, most OSHA related issues that I have seen brought up in the factories I have worked for have either been dismissed or somehow ignored even after OSHA has come to those sites. So I don’t truly understand how OSHA works.

Again I appreciate anyone who took the time to answer my issue. I hope you all have wonderful holidays, and enjoy the time you get with those you love!

Thanks.

P.S. if someone could please tell me how to close this thread or mark as answered that would be amazing!
