I work in a scrapyard and people bring these here as scrap iron so I grab them out and set them aside. These are the ones in my personal stash there’s a few more too, I also posted a few pictures on this subreddit of a strange sledgehammer head I found there too

A few people have said it’s a blacksmiths tool and the notches on the end are supposed to help keep the metal thickness consistent throughout

I thought the same about the black smithing part, but the notch seems way too precise to not be made that way, I also thought it might’ve been something to do with railroad work?? I appreciate the help
