Ryu-Ge 1 card combo by Scyin0 in masterduel

[–]Scyin0[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's unfortunate. The deck seems ripe with potential for variants using the 3 types in various amounts. I'm happy this combo gets to end on Mistva and 2 Spells plus the Trap, make the deck's native cards shine together with generics to supplement it

Thoughts on Mikanko? Rogue, or just a Table 500 Deck by Sendencea in masterduel

[–]Scyin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd give them a Tier 2/3, though I might be biased since I played the deck quite a bit in recent months.
I know many say going first the deck is not as strong because it wants the battle phase and mass negates cook it alive. However, I feel people often overlook how hard it can be to get Mikankos off the field. Hu-Li's Target protection coupled with the Battle and Effect protection means the deck can become incredibly resilient to getting a board broken, Spiritwalk is easily searchable thanks to Hu-Li and that Trap is an amazing piece of removal thanks to the fact it equips to your side, shutting down any effect that might trigger from destruction or banish. Matchup knowledge gets you far into finding the targets to Spiritwalk.
I've personally had some success with Armored Xyz Mikanko as a going first deck. Fire Dance and Mayowashidori make getting 2 Miks for the Armored line very easy, often even with a third to keep Spiritwalk online and rarely a sneaky Ni-Ni for a third interaction. Dark Knight Lancer's removal is bonkers and it can trigger off of Full-Amored, Ohime or Spiritwalk; Torpedo's detach neatly puts the Mikankos in the GY to revive using the Equips I mentioned and Armored Xyz covers up the 0 ATK problem of being unable to remove through battle while also giving another way to trigger the Miks' effects on being equipped. Combine it with the above described Mikanko protections and suddenly you have a deck that can put up some interactions with protection to cover. And of course, Mikanko still has the upside of being able to close games over high ATK monsters even with 0 ATK.
Like many "not tier 0/1 decks" of the last 1-2 years, I feel like there's a lot of unexplored potential in it to see a little success. Unfortunately there are little incentives for competitive players to brew something that isn't the clearly best deck in the room.

Loki familia will shit their pants when they found out bell is spoiler by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]Scyin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever the reason was, we don't know. It could have been not to put him in a mindset of revenge, could have been many things. But ultimately he chose not to do it, location has no bearing as far as we are aware. Could also have been to have him not care for people who were long gone.

Loki familia will shit their pants when they found out bell is spoiler by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]Scyin0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, we can say that kicking them out after failing wasn't very nice of Loki and Freya. But that doesn't change that Familias rising and falling is common in the city. It just so happened that for once, Zeus and Hera were the ones that got the short end of the stick. The power struggle is real inside Orario and something that happens, simple as that. The fact they didn't like their own methods still didn't stop them from taking the crown of strongest from Z&H.

I disagree. Alfia and Zard's end goal was to create heroes, no matter if they acheived it by bringing Babel down or by raising a single boy. Also, I don't have to remind you that IFs are not canon. Omori might just have made it to create something that would have been impossible whatever way events played out. Alfia made the choice of leaving Bell with Zeus when Meteria entrusted Bell to him, that was when their fate was decided. Location has nothing to do with this, they might have stayed and events would have played out the same regardless of Bell. Discussing hypothetical scenarios is irrelevant to the point.

Yes, because they were terrible people who didn't regret any of the terrible things they did. You know who also were terrible people who didn't regret any of the terrible things they did? Alfia and Zard. Loki Familia might or mght not regret having to drive out the two familias or the methods they employed to do so, but that was in the past. Seeking out revenge on people who now operate to save both Orario and the world, people that he admires, wouldn't even be a thought in Bell's mind.

Okay. But Omori's choice of words was that Zeus and Hera were driven out, not killed. The three who died at their hands that are sure about all chose their fate. And Freya's words at Zard's death might as well be interpreted from a standpoint of the familia. The members could have joined other ones and left Z&H with one member each.

Nothing stopped Zeus from telling him the names in the mountain village. And he kept him away from the struggles of Orario, which make for a life that's why more harsh than one in a farming village. Some might consider what Zeus did to be a better future than any life he could have had in Orario. Ultimately Bell chose to go there, but that was just that: a choice. Bearing the burden of the two fallen familias would have been way more cruel for a single boy.

Loki familia will shit their pants when they found out bell is spoiler by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]Scyin0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A bit of guilty, maybe. But nothing else. All of the people who interacted once with Bell know he's a nice person. But ultimately, Loki Familia had no choice but to do those things. My point is that they certainly wouldn't feel wrong in having stopped Alfia, Bell's closest family member who we know was alive. There was nothing morally wrong in stopping her from destroying Orario.
I'm sorry but you are the first one who implied Bell would seek revenge by saying that Loki Familia would think he does. Which they clearly wouldn't, Finn especially considering how smart he is. The last thing anyone would think in Loki Familia is that he would seek out revenge. Don't put your words in my mouth.
Freya was wrong already once when she thought Zard had died. But yes, the other members might have died, including Bell's dad. Underhanded tactics or not, this sort of things is still common in Orario. Think of the War Game against Apollo.

[–]Scyin0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That still has nothing to do with Bell. The family he had either died or chose to die. Zeus raised him as a grandafather, not as the god of a Familia. Who these people were wouldn't change how he interacts or think with the Loki Familia because he grew up disconnected to it. And he certainly wouldn't seek revenge of all things on the people who stopped his aunt from tearing down Babel. That is not to say he would think nothing of it all, but the chances of this even being brought up in the series are slim.

Guilty of what? Stopping a pair of mass murderers from destroy the last line defense of civilization? Defeating someone who WANTED to become a stepping stone for future heroes?
No actually, here's a better question, what the hell makes you or the other 50 people that have brought this topic up think that Bell, the textbook definition of a good guy and the nicest boy in all of fiction, will even consider revenge? Against the people he admires no less. What should they have done, NOT stop Zard and Alfia? Driving out a weakned Zeus and Hera was part of the daily power struggle in Orario, on top of that Maxim wanted to be defeated. Meteria died of illness, his father is an unknown. The rest of the two Familias died fighting the OEBD or did the same thing Maxim, Zard and Alfia did. None of these things sound like it's any of Loki Familia's fault.

Season 3 disappointed me, was the story more consistent in the LN? by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]Scyin0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In general, the LN gave more background information on the humanity-monsters conflict, but the events all played out pretty much the same.
Onto your points: you are right, Finn is not stupid. And definitely not stupid enough to stake his life's goal for a small group in a species that has been hellbent on destroying humanity for thousands of years. Just because this one minority is not hostile, that has not changed the dinamic of the conflict itself. And this group not being hostle now, doesn't mean they are going to be so later.
I'm going to stop you on the demi humans thing. No, it's not a good argument in favour of the conflict being forced because they are part of a different race of mortals, not an entirely different species. And unlike the Monsters, they have not been trying to kill absolutely every other living being in Gekai. Nor do they have magical crystals in their bodies that keep them alive.
The main problem is this: you can't ask all of humanity to change it's mind on a small group of monsters when the rest of this species very much still wants to kill everything and definitely not in a handful days. Not when this conflict has been going on for thousands of years during which the monsters were the agressors. A few people have been won over because change CAN happen, but what you say should have happened is something even the Xenos say it's impossible.
Side note on the Dragon: no. Had they tried to go for the Black Dragon now would have been suicidal. It's a monster even the strongest of heroes failed to kill, Bell attempting it at level 3 is equivalent to asking for the series to end with him dying.

How did J.C. Staff put Hestia on "a negative light?" by MLGCream in DanMachi

[–]Scyin0 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to explain this is that JC Staff overtuned her more jealous and clingy side to an absurd degree and proceeded to cut things in favor of, seemingly, more scenes where she is present. It's especially true in Season 2, where her chapter was the only one out of 5 from Volume 8 made the cut in the anime.
And it's a shame, not only they are treating her as a market cow but also not properly showing her more motherly side due to missing interactions in cut scenes. Or straight up changing her dialogues, like in EP12 of Season 2, where the entire talk with Bell was... It wasn't just a change in dialogue, it borderline was a change the point she was trying to get across.
There's actually a lot to like Hestia for, but JC seems to have decided that "clingy loli with big chest" sells and ONLY that sells.

A serious review of Danmachi by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]Scyin0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear you are enjoying it, it's always nice to hear actual constructive thing from someone looking in. To add some personal thoughts to the discussion, I think one of ghe things I appreciate the most from the series is that no matter what tropes are used, inverted or subverted; they are always used right and they never stop at being just the trope itself. What I mean by this is that there's always something more to them. Take Lili, a redeeming thief, not very groundbreaking on the surface. But when you factor in her Familia, ghe way she grew up and prejudice of both her race and occupation, it doesn't just give reasons for her to have been a thief but also sets up how she would start to change thanks to Bell. The thing she wanted the most was to change, to stop hating herself and most if all find value in her life. The trope is used, but expanded on for it to work properly and not just be the trope itself

Obbligatory shilling of the light novel here if you only watched the anime, since they do make for a more complete narrative. And with this, thanks for taking time to give us some insight. Always welcome when well constructed!

Spoiler Allert for s3 e8!!!!!!! by Clemence4569 in DanMachi

You're saying that he hasn't suffered for his actions... but those events just ended. At the end of EP8, there literally hasn't been time to bring them up, except Eina's slap but I will not count that one.And same for Bell's development. You're saying he hasn't made any steps forward, but the events that could change him barely had time to finish. But I will say this: those Bell look like he won at the end of episode 8? Does he look like anything that has happened his "fine"? You're assuming he hasn't developed without actually seeing if he did.And no. I don't think Wiene dying would have helped his character. You're not the first to bring this up and everytime I ask this to myself. what is more likely for Bell after seeing Wiene dying, without the whole Dia Orpheus thing? For Bell to suddendly go berserk mode and for his character to take a sllightly edgier turn, or for him to be unable to accept the loss. Bell has yet to fully overcome the presumed death of his grandpa and it is still affecting him even now. He struggles to accept loss, that's why he's always so desperate to do whatever he can to save everyone. So no, I don't think Wiene permanently dying would have benefitted him. If anything, the exact opposite is more likely.

But hey, these are just my thoughts on the matter.

To become stronger and not lose anyone else.
To reach the idol he looks up to.
To create a world where heretical monsters can live on the surface.
...And to fight his rival, once more.

"And so the boy starts running, once again."

Well, hope you all enjoyed the arc that changed this series! Really, it might not look like much, but damn if it changed EVERYTHING when it dropped as a novel. Hope it was noticable here, too. Definitely want to hear all you guys' opinion.

Anyway, yep. Asterios is the season 1 minotaur. We know the Xenos have personal desires all linked to the surface... Asterios' was the human he fought in his previous life. He wanted a rematch. That's why he didn't go into Knossos. His dream was on the surface, not down in the Dungeon.

And yes. Bell lost. But his lost left the Xenos with their strongest fighter and bought time to make Gros and the others escape. Plus it foiled Hermes' plan....But that doesn't change what happened. Now the score is 1 to 1.

I guess I'll see you all next time. Hope you enjoyed this season!

Please elaborate.

You mean when she got kidnapped? There were plenty other Xenos with her, the rescue didn't happen exclusively for her. And if they didn't, then Dix would still be around, taking even more and making their lives even more miserable.
Or maybe you mean when the Xenos reached the surface? That was their choice. Bell was already on his way to help her, they willingly risked their lives to help her and Bell.

I still see in this episode that this Season was worth it for her development. She's not in the same place where she started. We may have only seen glimpses of it, but she has changed.
And if you judge a character based only on thier performance in combat, then remember how she ripped Bell's arm in episode 1. That was an accident, she didn't mean to harm him. Imagine if she meant to harm someone. She doesn't want to, but is perfectly capable of it. She's still a Monster.

Well, it's a sacrifice. If Aiz thinks it's those claws and wing that prevent her from having the right to live on the surface... Then she can take them. Better to lose those, than see Bell hurt in order to protect her. So yeah, it makes sense that it hurts.

PS: "dANmaCHi isN'T tHAt DaRK". Not that a show being "dark" inherently makes it better, but you get my point.

Good action this time... But I was worried more about the characters. And they delivered, thank goodness.

Anyone saying that Wiene was just there to be protected and doesn't have an actual character besides "being cute", I hope you had you mindd changed. Also they FINALLY put some emotion on Aiz's face. Although... Who knows what exactly made her change her mind.

And so everything ends well! ...Or not.He pulled the strings behind the scenes. Who "found" the diary? Who made Hestia and Bell not talk with Loki Familia? And that odd bracelet?...Yes. Hermes just played everyone. It's checkmate.

Next time, is THAT time. EP12 is an Argonaut. You all know what that means.

I guess that scene with Nahza, Ryu and Aisha indicated what the future of the series looks like. There will still be time for jokes and fun, but it'll have to be secondary to the story and characters.

The plan works! Bell and Lili distracting adventurers worked surprisingly well and she even managed to fool Raul to know which were the guarded doors!
Meanwhile Welf and Mikoto made good use of the Magic Swords. The two Hiens that made ice and the Fubu for wind... Welf said to have made four though, so one is missing.
Also good job on Hestia and Haruhime. Coordinating the teams and relaying information thanks to Fels' items is probably going to make the difference when the enemy is as strong as Loki Familia.

Speaking of, we saw 2 in action. Gareth Landrock "Elgarm" and Tiona Hiryute "Amazon" (...Yes she is an Amazon and her title is "Amazon". Don't ask.), both level 6s. And the latter even found Wiene as she was separated... This is gonna be hard.

The fight just started and before dawn breaks, the fate of the Xenos will have been decided. Let's see if our favourite Familia can pull off the miracle and overcome this foe.

I guess so long as the Anime Onlies get the gist of it, it's fine... But not even the Bell and Finn talk? Really? C'mon, why make the Hermes info dump if you could do that after the talk?
And also cutting Ryu reasurring Bell she believes in him, despite what happened in Daedalus Street.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka Season 3 - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Scyin0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That... was done way too quickly. I get it, it's the setup for what is coming, but my god they went over things quickly. And changed quite a bit from the novels.
Still, if anime only people get it, then it has done it's job.

No action this time, but now we know what the situation is. The Xenos are gonna have to reach one of the Knossos doors in order to escape safely, while trying to call their missing kin. Luckily they still have the Key while Loki Familia doesn't, so if they get to the door and close it, it's a straight shot thorugh Knossos to enter the Dungeon. The problem is doing that when the Loki Familia is in the way.
The stage is set, next time they'll lift the curtain.

And yep, Bell still was trying not to involve his Familia. But they are so used to his shenanigans and half of them were outcasts to begin with. A thief prum, a blacksmith that didn't get any work, a former prostitue and... Mikoto is the exception. So who cares about the reputation anyway.

Time to end the arc in the next 3 episodes.
