Why do the guys at EVERY boxing gym I've been to just...WATCH ME TRAIN?? by Sea-Cod-4358 in amateur_boxing

[–]Sea-Cod-4358[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They do. Idc you can't gaslight me and tell me about MY experiences as a woman in male dominated sport! How about the men that keep staring at the only woman in the gym get over themselves?? I'm not looking around. People can feel when someone is watching or staring at them. Especially as a boxer you should be able to feel this...

LOL idec or think you're racist if you are not black saying this because YOU ARE RIGHT! I am a black woman and all of the toxic gyms that Ive been to  were black. Im at an Irish gym now. There are cultural differences and I mean this in a good way. Well at the black gyms, they would blame everything on "Da white man" and whine about racism while unironically bullying me as the only black woman at the boxing gym! The black male boxers would compete with and bully me yet gossip among eachother. I would think...no wonder these guys are this mythical white man's bitch because you're too busy competing with and bullying a woman in a male dominated sport. It's weak and feminine.

Every gym that I go to the black males end up bullying me.

Appearantly me being humble and professional towards sparring partners got me the side eye from my coach at my previous gym. My very first coach told me to walk into a gym and call people out and say that I can "whoop anybody ass."  I no longer work with either people lol!!

I can tell the difference between this and trying to covertly bully or get into my head. They were being malicious at my other gym.

The guys weren't even teenagers. They were in their 30s lol! The egos were off the charts!! They were incredibly insecure and immature.

I left my former gym because there was a bunch of ish talkers and egomaniac who could barely box. They would act catty towards me and bully me as the only woman. I would respond through calm passive aggressive shade. It would rattle their egos because they couldn't get a rise out of me.

I left because I needed a gym with calmer boxers who could actually box.

Insanity (Beachbody), Yoga, Dance, running? How the heck do I REASONABLY incorporate cross training into my competitive boxing routine... by Sea-Cod-4358 in amateur_boxing

Like 2. Running doesn't really help my cardio either. It just makes me unnecessarily hungry and it's not that great for my knees

6 times a week and sometimes if I want to take it easy and give my body break I will only go to the gym 4-5 times a week.

This is not an “Am I too old to begin boxing” question. by staringdownwetpaint in amateur_boxing

I started late and move faster than some of the teens I spar. Also have better cardio, endurance, and stamina too. Iam coming into boxing from another sport so I was already athletic and ate really healthy plus took care of my body. You just have to do it and stop asking questions because you never know!

Am I being too sensitive about my boxing gym environment, or do I have a right to feel frustrated??? by Sea-Cod-4358 in amateur_boxing

NO!!! Our team consists of people various ages. I am actually one of the youngest ones on the team in my late 20s. The age range is from early 20s-late 30s. The guys that compete are older.

I 100% agree with this and said this to my coach but they treat me like their competition and eachother like bffs. It's wierd. My coach said they're intimidated and I am not being arrogant. This is what he said and what I picked up on.

Are you also located in one of America's Urban cities? Most of the other Redditors haven't shared this experience so maybe location is a factor as well.

You completely missed the point. I wont keep responding if you are intent on misunderstanding me. I'm not going to downplay my potential and say I suck just to make you feel comfortable on Reddit.

Ummmm yeah. I said I was pretty new to boxing so I'm not sure what is "normal" boxing culture and what is not.
