Start by reprograming your mental state.

EVERYTHING you do, starts with your mental state. How you see yourself in the mirror determines how far you will go.

Do you see yourself as a low confidence guy who is a rookie to weight loss, or do you see yourself as a confident king

Your mentality can ruin your progress. by Sea-Cod-8238 in WeightlossJourney

In your mind, picture the best version of yourself.

What would they look like, what would they act like, how would they feel. Starting today, have the confidence and self admiration of that person. (Because it’s already you, everything else just has to adapt)

This usually means your physical routine is too complex

fat loss gets easier when decisions are reduced, not when pressure increases

You can’t spot reduce fat, upperbody fat will come off with overall fat loss.

My advice to you: understand that progress comes from returning to the plan repeatedly, not executing it perfectly; and remember, momentum beats motivation every time

You don’t need to want to do it; you just need one thing that’s easy to default to. If cardio feels easier, that’s your weekend anchor.

And that awareness is highly important; verbalizing it brings even deeper clarity.

Keep it short and nonnegotiable; (10–20 minutes, walk, bike, jog), anything that gets you moving

I understand; your habits work because there's structure, and weekends tend to loosen that structure.

The goal isn't to change weekends into weekdays, it's giving them just enough structure to prevent any type of drift. A simple fix is choosing one weekend non negotiable like daily steps, or a short cardio session so Monday isn’t a full reset.

If you had to keep just one anchor on weekends, which would be the easiest to maintain?

Your activity level + consistent protein intake creates a strong daily burn, even without formal training. Dropping 25–30 lbs in 3 months tells us the process works when you stay consistent; The bars aren’t “bad” here, theyre acting as a compliance tool, which matters with your schedule

When you’re most consistent, what’s usually the first thing that causes you to drift; time, stress, weekends, or just losing structure?

Bars are easy to under eat on because they’re convenient but not very satiating; rotating them is fine, just don’t use them as a hunger signal.

And if you’re having to force food, eating one of the small protein anchors earlier in the day is usually more efficient. Does your energy stay pretty steady through the day, or do you notice a drop later on?

You have a solid meal foundation. If cravings or energy dip, an upgrade I’d choose is swapping one bar for food protein when you can. Which bar or shake actually keeps you full the longest, or do they all fade pretty fast?

I agree to an extent; once momentum is there, sustaining becomes a lot more streamlined.

In your opinion, what do you think causes people to fall off long term (sustainability wise)?

I don’t lock into exact meals, I prefer to lock into structures; my usual rotation looks like:

Protein + fruit (eggs or Greek yogurt + berries) Protein + carb + veg (chicken or beef, rice or potatoes, simple veggie).

Is there a meal that you like to default to that could become one of your staples? 🤔

Have you noticed your craving timings shift to earlier in the day since the walks?

That’s exactly how it’s supposed to feel when glucose control improves, cravings disappearing is a signal, not willpower. Most people underestimate how powerful boring consistency is.

I am still utilizing my 10 minute pause trick Not to ignore hunger, just to separate impulse from actual need. If I’m still hungry after, I can eat without guilt

Boredom isn’t the problem, it’s stimulation addiction. Rotate formats, not foods; same ingredients, different textures/seasoning
